Want a sticky ^^?

I want to clear up something here and now: this thread is designed for the Console and PC portion of E-Gaming.

We're exploring more options, now that we got bit more flexibity. We're looking at expanding and possiblity trying a few new things.

We're still looking for more feedback if there is any. It was a kick-ass room, I still want to be even more kick ass.

Itachi no Jutsu, check your PM box, soon.

Just an idea, why not VGcats? We did have Megatokyo at one point I think...FanimeCon 2004. I'm sure we can try it, if we are lucky ^^;

Quote from: "FanFicGuru"Video Game panels. Seriously, I think it would be awesome to have some panels that recap on E3 (Which would have happened slightly before Fanime) and/or a chance to show off some cool video game trailers. Companies I'd like to see at the video game panels:

Square-Enix
Capcom
DDR Company? Bemani I think?

People I'd LOVE to see (but is unlikely):
Nobuo Uematsu
Keiji Inafune (Creator of Megaman)
Yoshinori Kitase or another Final Fantasy Director (Kitase did VIII)

I'd love to see Matt Greenfield come down and do an ADV panel. When I saw him at JTAF a couple years ago he was really friendly and told us about a lot of cool stuff.

So yeah, Matt Greenfield doing an ADV panel.

Right now I can't think of any anime or manga people...but those are my suggestions for the moment.

An E3 review eh? An interesting idea...I mean, at one point in the E-Gaming area we did show random clips from E3 2006, most notably are a few of the new Wii games and XBox360 trailers. Now, we can do that again, but we need to explore how legal that is (from a standpoint).

We per se did have Gamers for Hire (GFH) on site, but because of the scheduling and a couple of circumstances, it was not as popular as we thought. What GFH did is a small panel that involve talking about the Video Gaming Industry and how to get into it. We can bring them back, with other possible panel ideas.

We got a year (ok 11 months) - we'll see what happens. We're all open to new ideas=)

Quote from: "FanFicGuru"2) Badge removal for threats. Especially in the E-gaming room this year I guess there were a number of threats against people who won. Threats of actual physical harm. There should be a zero tolerance policy for stuff like that. Just because someone beat you at a game does not mean you get to threaten to beat them up or hurt them later on. Inexcusable. I really think this should be addressed next year as well.

If this was happening and by ALOT, you should warn a staffer of ours (or anyone really). We can and will step in those type of things.

I'll admit, I thought we were supposed to just watch the "original" E-Gaming aspects (PC/Consoles). If that was a mistake, then I do apologize for it happening.

Quote from: "Lisu"Not re-reading the previous posts...but was the biggest issue time or legal ness?
If time, then I'd think now is a good time for those who were really interested and wanted to do it for the next year.
My outlook with what could be in a different topic would be not so much as a bar, but a cafe.  Very anime-esque related subject and easily applicable to the con (maid cafe...hmm).
Bar, cafe, energy drinks, just drinks...all I want to see is if anyone is up to anything.

Timing actually I think. If this is an idea thats still serious, now would be a good time to propose it or push for it again. I, for one, wouldn't mind acquiring some energy drinks ^^;;

Hotel and Facilities / Parking?
May 31, 2006, 02:06:51 PM
When I parked my car inside the convention friday and took it out monday afternoon, the grand total was 30.50. To me it was steep as HELL (compared to 10 bucks last year ;_; ) but to hear others had to pay far more, damn! Good piece of advice: if you're gonna go to Fanime, carpool with at least someone else, so the price doesnt seem that high.

That parking lot, if memory serves me right, can take about...700-800 vehicles at last check from a eye view. I could be wrong.

Suggestion for next year - I know this is gonna be a big pain in the arse, but is there a way to lower parking prices?

(I will repeat this post, probably in greater detail, in the feedback thread)

So let me get this right: 48 hours after the con, the common jest is, put all aspects of FanimeCon Gaming (E-Gaming's PC+Console, Arcades, Tabletop) into the exhibit hall 3 as a center for all gaming, or as I see it now "mega, "super", uber Gaming Hall"?

Now, not that I will promise anything at all, it might be an good idea. The only  few problems I see with it is: the doors situlation that later kinda got out of control, the noise bleed that might affect tabletop (unless i'm totally wrong), and how it work out @ con from a coordination point of view. I have an personal variation of the idea of how to possibly make this idea happen, but we'll see.

Now, if sofas were a viable option to have, imagine the possiblities...

Keep it going with the feedback! The staff and upper management are watching to make sure Gaming @ FanimeCon remains, is, and will be kickass for the future!

Quote from: "Bullhonkie"Exactly. I could understand an entry fee if the machines were free-play, but at 50 cents a pop - which is already pricy as far as fighting games go - that's a bit ridiculous.

Although it was kind of moot anyway because it got so lax from Saturday onwards that I never even had to show a badge to get in the room. There were also so many other doors leading into that room - I saw people coming and going from those all the time. So in retrospect I didn't mind as much that it was all shoved into one room, but I would've liked to see all that room better used by spacing the machines further apart.

Ya know, it was, literally, E-Gaming's and Arcade's first time(esp Arcades for a while) in a room, together in one room. I think now that we have an idea of how it works in a real deployment, I think we will improve on it, hopefully.

Now, as far as a badge requirement to get into the room - I dont know what I can say about it to be honest. The decision, mostly an upper management call I think, was to continue a requirement thats been standing normally in the E-Gaming room (back when it was normally seperated) and for that, we apologize. For the future, I think this will continue, we'll keep ya guys updated.

For next year, I hope the vender (a kickass one too!) is willing to allow FanimeCon to host Arcade Tournaments once again. It felt a bit wee odd not seeing a DDR tourny at all. Doesn't make sense to have tourny's for only PC's and Consoles lol =P (Now, I say that from a fan's point of view. As a staffer, I will bring it up in future meetings and see how it goes)

This has to be probably a big sucess story. I noticed ALOT of people using this and somehow the signal extended into Exhibit Hall 3, where a number of DS players were using the connection to play with others. Even I used this connection to check in with the real world here and there at Con.

I hope this returns next year ^^;;

Quick question - Does the tabletop head(s) want me to take this down from sticky form? Let me know and I will do so.
#72
FYI, this thread has served its purpose. The feedback threads up, located here. Unstickying.

This looks soo good, this might be my compelling reason why I want to get a Wii.

I thought the Wii was gonna be 250 USD, not 200 USD. I got that pricing from yahoo news - confirm?
#74
Not that I disagree...but I only have on problem with the idea of putting all 3 into one room - the noise. Doesnt tabletop require a somewhat quiet environment? I didn't go into there much, but to me, I think the sheer noise from E-Gaming and arcades would prove to be a problem.

Then again, I am open to ideas. I have a few ideas in mind....

Quote from: "100% BEEF"I loved the import copy of Samurai Spirits. My only real complaint was that there was no console #Reload or GGXX. When I asked the staffers about it they responded with, "We won't set up one since there is a Slash arcade already over there." I offered to provide the game and PS2 for one of the tvs nobady was swarming but they refused the offer, lame. :x

We were asked by both arcade vender and fanimecon upper management not to have any copies on hand for the consoles, aside from tourny mode. This may be repeated again for next year, and if so, we will try to squeeze in a tourny for that game.

Well, I could list some bad things, but they were mainly personally ones that were a bit wee silly (/gg drama at a con...waste of time and interfers with con fun) =P

The only few bad things that happened to me was: Not eating enough, resting often and getting sick. Getting sick by sunday sucked hella hardcore. First time i've gotten sick at a con too lol, but by monday, I was "done".

Now, on the sick thing, either my eyes deceived me or what, but I noticed quite a few people getting sick. Something in the air perhaps? I know a few of my staff got sick and anyone entering E-Gaming areas kinda looked sick.

General Convention Discussion / swap meet
May 29, 2006, 09:18:10 PM
Quote from: "Eurobeat King"Thanks to everyone who purchased stuff from me on either or both evenings for the Swap Meet. :)  I hope you're pleased with your purchase(s.)  Thanks to you all I'm able to use the $$ towards AX, San Diego Comic Con, and Otakon. ;)

I was amazed that they used both walls along the side of the entire Exhibit Hall 3 for the Swap Meet!    Did they manage to fit EVERYONE who lined up/showed up for it??  The time change (those were there on Thursday knew about the 8pm time but the program guide still said 6pm) kept me in one spot for a few hours (which I could've used to take pics of cosplayers) but I still had a good spot for Friday's swap meet. :)

I was sitting in E-Gaming when this happened. Lets just say, never have I seen a swap meet get THAT big. I was like "wow...maybe I should ditch to find a deal or two...

Thank you all for coorperating with the E-gaming staff while were setting up during Thursday and during Friday on our operations of hardcore fun gaming.

Gaming / Would you come to a LAN Party?
May 28, 2006, 09:15:28 PM
Quote from: "drallcome"
Quote from: "Umi.Ryuuzaki"Yes...but I want to play, not lead it =P

Question: at FanimeCon or a future FanimeCon based event? I do have a few good ideas...

We need a good LAN party out here. There hasnt been a good one in ages in the area at all.

Ive been going to these guys lan parties.. http://www.pdxlan.com/
