sooooo.. apparently it's a no go, since it looks like we'll be the only ones doing Valkyria cosplay! Oh well.  :-\

Figured I'd start a thread for this. Anyone else out there thinking of doing Valkyria Chronicles cosplay this year?

My boyfriend and I are going to attempt Welkin Gunther and Alicia Melchiott. We'll see if we kill ourselves in the process. At least the game gives you lovely 3-D models to look at for costume reference! Last big costume project we did was for a game that wasn't yet released, so we were left with a few tiny, grainy sprites and a bunch of concept art that all had different ideas of how the costume should look.

If anyone else replies, I'll turn this into a gathering thread.

... and if it weren't for the fact that I have too much WIP on my plate, I wouldn't be fighting the urge to cosplay Balsa quite so much.  ;_;

the Folkwear company doesn't make the pattern anymore, but it's on ebay for cheap.

I looked around the forum but didn't see anything on Seirei no Moribito, so I thought I'd start a thread. :)

Anyhone else thinking about cosplaying Seirei no Moribito?

I have several friends who are interested (or will be interested, if they know what's good for them...) so they're probably be a small group of us. If there are others cosplaying, I'd love to organize a meet-up! ^__^

No firm idea which characters I'm doing yet. Among my friends and I, there might be a Tanda, a Balsa, and a Chagum (end of show outfit) but we'll see.

I'll be longhaired!Haruhi and I'll be bringing along a maid!Mikuru. :D

I'm going to be tweaking with my baiken cosplay and perfecting it, and the bf and I are taking advantage of the fact that we finally have in-game ref of Order Sol to redo his costume.

me and my bf really liked how you guys interpreted order sol.

My bf had such a difficult time as well too doing order sol, plus the artwork isn't consistent with details etc.

i second amphigory.com. The wigs I've got fom there have been really good. Their selection has got quite a bit bigger recently, and almost all their wigs have the fake skin scalp.

styrafoam or high-density blue insulation foam, covered in multiple coats of two-part epoxy and then painted. This makes a pretty light sword that's also pretty strong. The epoxy is messy but mostly non-toxic. No nasty fumes or anything.

sadly, no. I just have long brown hair, and don't want to cut it or spend $40 on a short brown wig.

go to a hardware/home improvement store and get thin metal flashing. Cut out the shape with tin snips, and make the three holes in either side by pounding a nail through the flashing with a hammer. It's easy, just remember to put a piece of scrap wood underneath... Then you could rivet it to fabric. Use something like twill or lightweight denim, something that's strong but not too bulky. Designs could be sccompished through permanent marker or masking the design off and using spraypaint primer. After you're dome, you might want to give the metal a coat of some sort of varnish, like incra-lack or synthetic laquer, just to keep it shiny.

I'll try to get them to you. :D

well, if anyone's still checking the boards... Sorry for disappearing w/my flyers! School rose up and smacked me in the face with papers and midterms.

I can get some flyers printed up this afternoon, and either bring them with me to the con tomorrow (Sat.) or send them to the con w/friends this afternoon. What, though, sgould i *do* with them? Put them on the front desk? accost people and give them flyers? Make anybody who asks about my costume take a flyer?
