Title: Roommate(s) Horror Stories...
Post by: Jerry on April 15, 2008, 03:07:10 PM
So a random thought.

Ever since college ive always been intrigued by Horrible roommate stories...

I guess I've been 'mostly' lucky in the sense that I've never had a roommate from hell. but I've heard SO MANY f'in stories about how crazy, retaliation, fights and down right some ppl fear their lives and personal items due to being in a living situation of the random luck. or lack thereof.

I could share a few of the stories ive heard and even include minor issues ive had with previous roomies in previous years. but I'm curious if you guys wouldnt mind sharing ur stories too.

think about it, ppl meet randomly even at fanime or random strangers crash a room or a new person crashes for the nite only for it to end in absolute choas... u know you want to get it off ur chest, and maybe someone else's story is WORSE than yours.

have at it.

This was not my roommate but me and my friend talk about this all the time. In fact, we talked about this at lunch today.

So he's the CEO of my company, really nice guy. Too nice, I'm the jerk of the company. I put guys in line.

So, a guy he knows gets kicked out of his house by his dad. We will call him Joe. Joe has a girlfriend who was living with him and the dad, we'll call her Jane. Lots of intricacies in this story so bear with me. Joe and Jane are on the streets and call up my friend. My friend said sure, you guys can stay for a little bit while you figure out where to go.

They end up staying for like four months, they fight every night til like 3-5 o clock in the morning screaming and crying at each other. Jane is pregnant, supposedly with Joe's kid. Although, -insert details here-, there are disputes about who the father could be since some of the arguments were accusations of Jane sleeping with Joe's dad. My friend's house was broken in, electronics were stolen. Cameras, camcorders, some expensive clothing, and his plasma TV were gone. We all think Joe or one of Joe's friends did it, the cops thought so too.

Joe had many court cases against him, Joe became on the run after he beat Jane. The cops charged him with Assault, Attempting to kill an unborn child, etc. He fled. Jane still lived at my friend's house, because he went out of town. When he came back, the house was trashed. He finally threw them out. Jane moved to Colorado, Joe apparently followed (Warrants for his arrest are still in effect to this date in CA). The child should be born any day now, if not already born.

I became the nice guy of the company and my friend became the jerk like almost every day after they started living with my friend (not enough sleep). He returned to normal when they left.

Top THAT one.

I am not going to tell my story, though it's similiar. I just don't think it's a good thing to share on the internet. XD

But DUDE that sucks, and I hope your friend never has to deal with  crap like that EVER again. :/

Same. Definitely not something I want to rant about here.

But seriously, Steve. That's just horrible. =(

So this one is kind of thirdhand, because the only roommate experience I've had was, well, rather amusing but not that horrific. (Short version: My roommate didn't sleep, was occasionally a jerk but occasionally a good guy, and spent most of the year living in the study lounge.)

Anyway, the real story is from my friend D, whose friend had a roommate who NEVER SHOWERED. Literally, she just went around kind of gross and natty all the time. Tried to get the college to change roommates, but the college was useless. Eventually D's friend just transferred to a different school.

The punchline came when D was describing this to some others of us, and another acquaintance of ours spurted out his solution to the problem: "I'd cum on her. Then she'd have to shower." This acquaintance didn't appear to understand the intrinsic problems with that solution (hi there sexual assault).

Also D told us a different story about a roommate of his for some summer program. This roommate was probably psychotic. But I'll save that story for another time.

I've had four!

First was a bi-polar who got off her meds. Tried to OD, her boyfriend intervened, she beat him up, cops/paramedics came, and it took a few grown men to restrain this wisp of a girl. She later shut off power to the apartment and laid tacks on the stairs; she thought we stole her books. I got two in the foot while groping around in the dark. She left, but not without stealing some furniture and leaving about two grand in unpaid rent.

Second was a girl with a shitty boyfriend. She complained and cried daily. We sought to comfort her, to help - she lashed out and withdrew. Instead of confronting him about his lack of care, lack of attention, and cheating, she confronted us for telling her to find a better man.

Third was a spoiled girl. She wasn't too bad, and we kept our distance. But, the day we move out, we do our share, clean up our shit, and get out; she doesn't, leaves a mess, and takes our security deposit. What a mess. I think she lost two diamond engagement rings.

Last was a spoiled girl. She moved in before she had a lease and declared the master bedroom as hers. We tried to negotiate, but she wouldn't hear it. That was the common theme. Every little thing was a battle - rent, bills, dishes, TV. We started to get fed up, when suddenly another roommate exploded on her. That kept things quiet until we moved out.

Now we're just living with lazy guys that sometimes forget to flush and - thankfully, only once - do... guy things in the shower and don't clean up. That's not so bad.

Ironically, I've heard girls could be quite the handful, and the only bad thing about guys is just being lazy.

My turn.

Back in Davis I roomed with a girl who was a bit on the flirtatious side - Okay she was the town bicycle (yes Davis is a bicycle town, but she was a slut) Basically halfway thru the semester she got pregnant and didnt know what to do, I had to cover up for her since she had asian parents and would have been disowned I had to keep up the lie for about 2 months.

When she decided not to keep it, I had to do ALL the leg work of finding her info about planned parenthood, and took her to a clinic when she decided to get an abortion. She had to borrow money from several close friends so that her parents wouldnt find out.

after the fact, she claimed she had post-pardon depressed and BLAMED ME for 'convincing her' to go thru with the abortion and one weekend when i was away, she stole 1/2 my video game collection (My rare games and my RPGs dammit!), my emergency fund in the apt. and my favorite stuffed animal that I had since I was a kid (thats a different story all together) and ran away from under my other roommates noses. We still had 6 months more of rent and she was never heard from again.

Here's one a little closer to home:

I still live at home with my parents basically my closest room mate is my preppy, anime hating, ganguro, cheerleader. younger sister her and i have seperate rooms but shes a nightmare even then! she listens to the TV all  hours of the  the day (really loud), she tells me to turn my shitty music down ( which is j-rock and anime music) so she can listen to Reggae tone , rap and all her  crappy bands  loud.
i remember this one time i was sitting in my room she  brings  home her latest "customer" ( i forgot to mention my sister's a slut she never  brings home the same guy twice)   she  goes in her room  and a few minutes later i can hear the sounds of her screwing the guy
she didnt bother closing the door ( by the way if ur wondering where my parents were they were out of town) needless to say i puked
whenever she  brings  home her little  customers i yell " Close your fucking door i dont want to hear you working!"

isnt the point, to have 'good' business to have repeat business?

must show how 'lousy' business can be, if their not repeat customers.

Family Guy reference FTW -

Stewie: " So is there any tread left? or is it like throwing a hot dog down a hallway? "

Thats what u should say to your sister the next time she brings another unwanted customer to the house.

Lol, this isn't really a roommate story. It just sounds like the typical conflict between siblings you find in most stereotypical homes. I think it's just a difference in taste and personality, over her actually actively being a crappy "roommate". The difference between a roommate and a family member is... well, they aren't family. They don't have this unconditional obligation and bond with you to not screw you over. I think that difference is significant, and possibly part of the criteria that makes such stories possible.

Most bad roommate stories can be taken to court, and a lot of us on the thread have obviously had experience with such people. But as for family, or more specifically, your sister... eh, she's not really doing anything wrong. She just differs in taste, personality, and lifestyle. You just don't agree with it.

Just curious though, how is she ganguro? o_0

Haha, agreed. If she wasn't good in bed, then she wouldn't be getting so many "customers".

Room with people that shower at night.

I wasn't given that option. One's an avid gamer, the other's a soccer player/sports maniac.

The bi-polar shit is crazy, that's why I'm never off my meds (for something elsE) I had a roommate like that once, i swear he wanted to kill this one guy because he grind his teeth when he slept..(then again I did too because no one in the room was able to sleep either)

The second situation, dude, I would of gotten in the middle and sorted that whole thing out.

At Anime Expo..2006? me and my friend had 2 rooms to share, everyone but me and 2 other people ended moving to the other room because one of the girls in the room, is the queen of drama. All she did was bitch about everything. So during the convention when in my attempts to hide from her, I would go in that room because I knew she wouldn't come anywhere close to that room. then when I was actually in the room, she threw a pity party for herself and surrounded herself with guys not one of knew, she out of worry, we grew concern...around 3am?

me and the rest of the roommates crash for the night, another roommate gives me a loaded airsoft for safety and shit, around...6 or 7 am she come crashing in the room with 4 guys all loud an obnoxious. I try to be polite and let them do what they were came here to do. I had a really bad hangover and I wanted to sleep, so what I start to do is i take the air-soft and start shooting near them and threaten then to get out or I would start shooting at them. At the instant, they all walked out and hung out outside, they were still loud, but was low enough where I could still sleep.

She didn't tell me she took a shower and told them to stay here while she cleaned up, when she walked out she started yelling at me. At the moment I started cussing her out because I was tired, pissed off, and frustrated with her. She walked out and that was the last time I ever saw her.

At random times, she try to IM me on AIM and she still tries to apologies but it isn't me she should really be apologies to me, as it she would being saying shoe sorry to the people she drove away from her and the roommates who were suppose to stay in our room and not the other room...and the other room was overfull....like a lot over flown.

I moved out with my first bf. (BAD IDEA)
We were both not ready for it. XD~!

2006
I was moving out with my two best friends. One of them had been my friend for 6 years and we were pretty much family. I put in a transfer for work in Oregon, and my two friends would pick me up after I got the transfer. Two weeks later, I find out that they dont want to come get me and all my belongings are up there with them. I nearly lost my job and was crying in the managers' office. Having to explain what was happening, and call the manager in Oregon. I get back to wook about a month later, and after that I FINALLY get my belongings back.

I also lost a my very close friend to a girl that was only 15, and he was 20. After 4 months he comes back, and apologizes to me. For the sake of having been so close, I try to keep in touch. He's not around much anymore though.

Last year.

I always got left with cleaning the house, doing the dishes, and whatever else. My rent money never went to the bills, it went to whatever the other two fuckwads wanted for funcash. When I started sending my check to our landlord they got pissy.

I was stuck with babysitting their kid, and everytime I tried to instill some sort of appropriate bahavior for the kid...I'd get snapped at. Then the mother of the son got pegged for drugs and had to stay with us. SHE accused me of trying to take the wife's place and would tell the neighbors that I was sleeping with the husband.

@_@

Now, this was a HOUSE with a seperate room and I needed to be closer to work and my therapist becuase I couldn't afford the 45-1hr drive just to the damn town. I minded my own damned business, and at the time the wife was my good friend. I helped the get into the house, I helped her get some bills paid. When needed I watched her kid.

The mother started snapping at me, telling me I needed to leave, and tried to say I was a bitch to her. The woman had threatened me on several occasions, which for the sake of friendship, I never called the police on her. Then my 'friends' started to let the mother have her way and would say that I wasn't doing my part in the house.

This circulated around the other neighbors, and at my work.  I finally ended up leaving in october. Couple months later a I get a call from this 'friend' saying she was so sorry and that I was right and her mother in law is the bitch. I told her that I told her this before. Thanks for the apology.

^this was the story I made the comment about homacidal tendancies, and had to go to therapy. There is a BUNCH of details left out, that I don't wish to share.

Er, well... that alone doesn't exactly make her ganguro. In any case, I honestly doubt she's that bad of a person, but I haven't met her, so... I'm still fairly sure it's just two siblings disagreeing with each other, though. Once you move out and live on your own, it won't be a problem anymore. For all you know, you might just get along with her then.

After reading all this I guess this is going to sound very tame.
Back when I was in college I had 3 roommates. The toilet in the bathroom got a little "dirty".
I won't go into details of who did it and how bad it was, some things are best left to the imagination.
After a "certain" amount of time passed we agreed something should be done.

To be honest what happened was one of my roommate's girlfriend visited one day and got totally grossed out.
I guess she must of told him to clean his sh!t or she won't visit again. That's my theory of what really happened.
(what would men do without women in this world?)
Anyways so there's an agreement the toilet should be cleaned but who would do it?

We all played a game of rock - paper - scissors.
That was the most intense game of rock - paper - scissors I have ever played in my life....and probably ever will!  ;D
I did NOT have to clean the toilet.

My "roomate" was actually my father.  The thing is I was the only one with a job or any sense of responsiblity.    He didn't pay a bill for YEARS, yet he got the master bedroom.  I purchased all of the groceries, he ate 80% of them.  I paid for power, cable, phone...everything.  He made no contributions to the home what so ever.  And BOY did he stink!  Wow, a combination of B.O> and a life of smoking filterless cigarettes.  Come to find out the deal he set up with my Uncle for rent was total B.S.  Thirteen days before Christmas my Uncle evicted us.

I spent YEARS of my life paying for EVERYTHING for him.  I got him a GREAT job with the school district, that he lost in days.  I sacrificed things that were very important to me so that he could keep sitting on his butt, smoking cigarettes, eating all of my food playing poker on the internet.  When everything went down in December he pulled every trick in the book, hoping I would continue to pay for his existance.  I paid for his room for more then a month, then he wound up in a homeless shelter, and made me feel like it was my fault.  He's still playing head games trying to get me to pay for his existance.

I never realized how much this affected my health until I finally got moved into my own place.  Thank Goodness for my apartment, no one to answer to!

Wow your uncle evicted you guys? Were they not really close or something? My uncles/aunts would've been like...oh well he's family.
That really sucks when family totally tries to take advantage of you that way. Especially dead-beat dads! Where's your dad now? Still at the homeless shelter?

Last I heard he finally got a job and was staying in a weekly hotel.  I haven't spoken to him for 2 months.  Don't get me wrong, my uncle is a JERK of stellar proportions.  But a lot of the situation comes back to my Dad.  He was lying to my Uncle and spending the rent money I gave him on cigarettes and his crack whore girlfriend.  It worked out well though...I'm very happy now in my own place.   ;D
