Hello everyone, I have what will hopefully be a quick comment and question:
The past two years I went to fanime I saw a large amount of bootleg plush, mostly Naruto, but a few others as well. I didn't report them, because A) I'm not sure if the sellers knew, and B) I'm not exactly sure who I should've reported them to. It saddens me greatly to see so many of these in the dealers room, as they take up room that some authentic UFO Catchers might have been placed instead.

This is a list of bootlegged plush from a website and forums which I've found to be extremely trustworthy. I was hoping that by posting it here someone who could deal with the problem might be alerted to the issue, so that this year there I will hopefully see none of them.

If you do find a bootleg, go up to the FanimeCon booth and ask for Dave or Camilla and they'll point you in the right direction.

So, try and find someone over 18 with an ID to vouch for you or something, if not, try not to worry about it too much.

"Officially" (legally) we can only accept State issued IDs as School IDs are not legal IDs.

There are obviously other ways to verify identity which are not necessarily publicized, but knowing all the information connected to the registration account is something that would be good to know. (email address, mailing address, fan name, etc...)

I don't think that having someone over 18 vouch for you works.

At the end, they pile them up into a gigantic monument and do a ceremonial dance around them, summoning the spirits and power of all those who didn't show up to give them the strength to do the next year's convention.

Or, maybe they just throw them away?

I also remember seeing the guys from OCE moving the arcade machines to their places and turning them on. Don't know if it was playable yet (+ no change machine).

Last year, the arcades were set up for people to play. Unfortunately, the change machines weren't there yet. :P

If there is or isn't a tournament, you can still bring your cards and play other people. I'm sure people will still bring their cards (I'd still bring my cards if I still played the WOW TCG).

This kicks ass!!  Are we going to need to reserve tickets or are they going to available around con time?  If we need to reserve them, is there a website available that registered fanime members can use in order to apply the discount?

You will have to order your tickets through ticketmaster but enter a special code that we will be releasing very soon. :)

Some hotels put a hold, some don't. I've been to hotels that have put a hold on my Debit/Credit Card for the full amount + deposit and some that didn't.

It's good policy (at least for me) to ask in advance so you will know if you need to have extra cash on you or not.

This will be implemented in the near future (i.e. no ETA). There will be a forum post and an email sent out when it is up.

The payment should state that it's made today but complete in the near future, so you should be fine. If worse comes to worse, email registration@fanime when your payment clears. :)

Last year, we were told from many that they would rather have one person pick up all the badges from the groups... Which led us to the decision of having the group leader pick up the badges.

If you ("the group leader") aren't able to pick up the badges for your entire group, please choose someone that will be there earlier than everyone and email registration (registration at fanime dot com) about the change.

Also, this applies to groups of 10 or more.

What happens if you registered at the convention?

The last time I attended (2005), we had a list of all people registered on the site, but I don't see a link. Is that a hint, or does one still exist?

The Fanime reg system has been through some "changes" over the years. We no longer simply just slap a bunch of names on the website. *grin*

Emanuel is correct, but let me elaborate on this. Over the years, Registration@fanime would get more and more emails from users asking us to remove them from the list for various reasons (mostly legit, some not-legit), so we just made the decision to not do that page anymore. Will it return? Possibly.

I am trying to reserve rooms for our fanime group, but can I use a debit card in place of a credit card?

I believe your Debit Card would be charged as a Credit Card.

My cousin and I both are part of a group, but she is younger and signed up first so she is technically "leader" of the group. Since she is young and does not have a California ID (no need to have one yet), how can we go about changing me to leader to speed up the process of receiving our badges? I know she had some troubles last year with just a school ID.

Please email your request to [email protected] and they will fix it up to you. Also note that the email has to come from the current leader of the group (your cousin).

Hey...I got the final schedule Thursday night and I had my staff trying to format the entire schedule each day so it would be print-friendly. Do you know how long that takes while making changes as departments phoned  them in? >.<

And doing this when our commercial copier died? I spent three days in a row watching the sun rise from three different Kinko's. That made me sad.

For the record, your boss was there with you. :P

Most convention staff work as volunteers (i.e. non-paid positions) and Fanime is no different. I can't speak for Anime-Expo as I do not know if they do or don't get paid. :)
