Asking about an old policy that I'm not sure still applies. If I make a prop out of a water gun, does the water gun's tank need to have a hole in it to renser it inoperable?

It was one of the Jade who got her bag nicked, but that turned out okay; the only things of value she lost were her phone and her badge, she has a backup phone lying around somewhere, and there were plenty of people to hang out with outside of the badge-requiring rooms. Losing her bag sucked, but she seems to have enjoyed the con regardless.

Yeah, Doc Scratch helped a lot with rallying everyone. I'm sure there'll be another huge showing next year; the story ain't going to be over by then, and as the fandom matures, we might get more diversity in costumes, too.

You still deserve mad props for managing all that insanity, and 4Aces!Dave (my roommate) agrees with me; he wanted me to give you a thumbs-up for him.

Here's hoping everything goes well next year!

I have 130ish on DeviantArt, mostly focused on Homestuck but also including other things (I know I got several Zelda pics in there). http://deflare.deviantart.com/gallery/

(Am I not supposed to post in gathering threads after the gathering? I hope this is okay.)

'Ello, everyone; the gathering was a lot of fun, though it was a lot more huge than I expected. I'd like to give a huge shoutout to the Eridan who got everything organized. He stepped up to a big task and did it well, despite various crises; I feel kinda bad that he wiped down so much of the chalk-covered wall on his own. He deserves major props for everything he did; if anyone knows him personally, give him a fistbump for me.

I've put my photos on DeviantArt, and I know they're getting cycled through Tumblr. I look forward to talking to everyone!

Deflare: You have 7 days for it to arrive, miracles can happen in 7 days. D|
Oh man, that idea sounds full of wicked hilarity.
I'm kind of dying thinking of all the possibilities for photos that could produce. xD

Apparently, the What Pumpkin store was having shipping issues. We'll see; if it's not here by Wednesday, I'll go ahead and make my own. Glad to see someone else likes the card idea.

Melancholy: I'd be surprised if you were the youngest at the gathering; Fanime tends to have a fairly large number of teenagers. From my understanding, this is a friendly fandom as well, so I don't think there's much reason to be nervous.

Chazo: We'll have a Jack? Oh, heck yes, that's gonna be a lot of fun.  :D

Waiting for John-shirt to arrive. Biting me nails. Preparing backup-plans to make my own gorram shirt if need be. Bluh.

Also: I'm bringing a pack of playing cards. My specific plans for the pack of playing cards shall remain undisclosed for now, but I did have another idea: If people want to do shippy pictures, then the pairs/trio can hold up aces representing the suit in question--for example, Karkat trying to strangle Karkat while holding up the ace of spades, or Equius and Nepeta hanging out like bros while holding up the ace of diamonds.

...I might have put too much thought into this. Maybe a little. >.>

Considering that the costume I plan to wear on Friday, I can't say I mind news of cool weather too much. Rain would be unfortunate, though, and I do sympathize with people in lighter outfits. Ideally, winds will shift to prove a lovely compromise of 75-degree weather with a cheery sun; still, keeping an eye on the weather seems wise.

I shall be attending as Vriska-outfit!John (still trying to decide if I want to bother getting the bright red-and-yellow shoes), and my roommate shall most likely be there as Four Aces!Dave. Because John and Dave are bros, yo.

And a side note to anyone playing Exiles: Having contemplated doing the same, I salute you for going through with it.

I'm planning to come as Dick Gumshoe; wish me luck in not dying of heat exhaustion from the many layers he wears. Why did I have to notice the suit jacket under his long jacket... >.<

I disliked that thanks to my own hangups and issues, I couldn't summon the gumption to talk to many people or focus on activities to participate in, so I spent most of the con lonely, bored, and depressed.

...The restrictions on entering/exiting the gaming room late into the night were also kind of weird, especially since no such restrictions were put on the Artist's Alley at any point that I could see.

General Convention Discussion / Re: Spin the Bottle
June 06, 2010, 01:31:47 AM
The main problem I saw with the Spin the Bottle game was... well... *eyeballs the thread about Con Sickness* Yeah. Lip-to-lip contact with lots of strangers=disease breeding ground. 'Tis the main reason why I didn't join in.
