I debated about the Sainte Claire suite, but settled on the double bed rooms. Less space, but better sleep.

Alright, so I booked from the 27th through 31st just to be sure, until I get some kind of official verification from the mods...I figure it's better to have the days booked and change it later.

Well, that's a bummer about the sofa. Although, you know, the sofa's bed was uncomfortable enough that my friend decided to turn it back into a sofa a sleep on it while my other friend slept in the arm chair.

@foester: there is a half wall between the king sized bed and the sofa. I'm basically 5ft tall and it came up to my chest. So, I'd say it's 4ft tall.

Yes, a normal double bed room has two full sized beds, hence the name double bed.

As for how many people could sleep there. Officially, a junior suite is only supposed to have 4 guests only. But there is plenty of space in the junior suite. So I'll leave it at that.  ;)

You basically get double the space. The room is basically a long rectangle. One end had the king sized bed, in the middle is the sofa bed against the long side of the wall with the coffee table in front of it and the desk directly on the wall across. There was also a small arm chair there too. Then the other side had the bathroom (sliding door) and closet. Oh and the TV was placed somewhere between the bed and sofa.

A normal double bed room is more like a square with a small and short hallway on one side. The hallway is where the bathroom and closet would be located, directly opposite of each other. In the main area, you would have two full sized bed I believe, with an armchair and desk somewhere. At least, that's what my rooms were like, unless you get a corner room. My corner room had a longer hallway and a type of small empty foyer (so think big square and littler square connected by a short and skinny rectangle at the top between them).

There is more walking space in a junior suite for sure. There's just more space period. In a regular double room, I was always walking over something or crawling over the beds to get somewhere. However, in a regular room, you get 2 nice beds to sleep on. The junior suite's sofa bed is not as comfortable. The daylight was brighter in my junior suite though, there were just more windows.

As for the price, it wasn't too bad. I wish the sofa bed was more comfortable though. It worked as a great sofa, but it wasn't great to sleep on when you pulled the bed out. I think that was the biggest downer of the junior suite. But we definitely had more space and light.

My room was on the 10th floor btw. I walked up and down those stairs quite a bit.

You're all in luck, I kept all my e-mails from last year's Fanime.  :)

I paid $154 per night at the Marriott for a junior suite. Plus, the parking was only $12.50 per day for Fanime attendees.

Yea, now that you mention it, that sounds like what I did for this year. I had booked a double first with Fanime, but I had to e-mail them later to switch to a junior suite with the Marriot. It's been only half a year but I totally forgot! ^_^'

What about the Sainte Claire? Their parking fees are more affordable for me. It's for this reason that I stayed at the Marriott since they gave a discount for con goers.

Hey, I'm doing a little research so that I can make a quick decision once hotel registrations go up.

I know the Marriot had Junior Suites and I think the Hilton. Did any other hotels offer them too?

I stayed at the Marriot this year, but the sofa bed was not comfortable according to my friends. But it's a toss up between more space (junior suite) or comfy beds (double bed guest room). So any info. to help me decide would be great too.

Thanks.

Thank you! Yup, this is the one. My group member wrote the title down wrong.

I'm looking for this yaoi anime shown Saturday night or early Sunday morning in the Yaoi Room. Another person in my group says the title is Kaichou no Kai. But we can't find anything about it online.

Is there a way to find out which one's were shown that night?

Hotel and Facilities / Re: E-Check In?
April 24, 2010, 09:00:39 AM
If there is no other option, I will definitely be calling. However, e-check in is a better way to secure my room whereas calling doesn't quite guarantee anything. I'm a little paranoid now since I've been learning about rights of hotels from my brother who's in hospitality. So I definitely want to make sure the hotel keeps my junior suite.

Hotel and Facilities / E-Check In?
April 17, 2010, 12:29:13 PM
I was wondering if anyone knows if the Marriott does E-check in? I am working on Friday, but would like to secure my room by checking in early online.

Yes, setting up an understanding is the best. I also have co-ed roomies and I've never had any problems. I usually inform anyone in the room that I'm taking a shower and when the door is closed we all know it's occupied. This has worked for me in previous years. It's not very hard, but that's when you have decent roommates, so for some reason you still can't trust your roommates to follow a simple policy, then the question is if you should be staying with them at all.

I thought about checking out the rooms at the Fairmont.  Some of my friends stayed there in '08 and '09, and the rooms are fantastic.  I have the chance.  I booked at the Fairmont because Monday night was unavailable at the Marriott T__T  I keep checking the hotel website just in case ^__^

2. Where is the best place to park if you are rooming at the Marriott? (I know they only do valet parking but, I want to know if there are other places to park with/without pay, valet is a last resort)

Park inside convention center garage and on the Marriott side.  You and your roomies can bring your luggages from you car to the Marriott.  The walk is short.  IIFC, I paid $12 per night.

Awesome thanks. :D First time staying in the Marriott and was unaware that they had their own garage too. (Only stayed on the Hilton side) I've booked a double/double room for Friday-Mon. When I looked, it was unavailable for Monday like you said but, is that only for the night? I chose it as my departing day. Just a tad bit confused since it let me choose it.  ???

Last year, I stayed at the Marriot and used their garage. The regular rate was $25, however, for convention goers the price was halved. So I paid $12.50 per night. It was nice since the valet unpacked the car and sent everything up to our room for us quite quickly.

For lack of funds, I have no new cosplays, so I'll be back as Kaoru next year. Although, I have made adjustments to the costumes so hopefully it will fit me better.

My brother has voiced his desire to be Soujiro, though. So I'm looking into commissions for that (Another reason why I won't be having a new cosplay. The money will be spent of his very first cosplay.) Anyways, all the Kenshins and Saitos out there, what is your sword made of? Since am not inclined or equipped to make one, I need to buy one that's con acceptable.

Currently, I'm looking into this: http://www.karatesupply.com/Polished-Chrome-Plastic-Practice-Sword_p_486.html#

Thanks!

Well, my little group was between the ages of 21 to 24.

I noticed that dealer too! I picked up volume 11 of Fables from Vertigo there. They were pretty nice.

I was Shippuden Tenten on Saturday. Here's one of the few pics I actually have of myself: http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b187/icedhaze/Fanime%202009/IMAG0164.jpg

I was then Kamiya Kaoru on Sunday. I was wearing a purple kimono.

Any pics will be appreciated.

I had lots of fun at the concert too! She was a great performer and was so energetic. I didn't get to see her when I went to Anime Expo 2007, so I was glad I was able to this year.
