Seems like a lot of people got sick... Maybe there was some thing in the climate control system?  Or maybe someone working registration was sick?

I think there was because I and three of my friends all started feeling icky.. and so did a LOT of other people

What kind of sick did you guys get? I got all weak and my throat was in massive pain.

Soar throat, fever, cough, exhaustion... Mostly kinda flu-like, but it was more like a very very harsh common cold.

Same thing happened to me too... Weird...
It all really depends how well the lies are told...

Good: I got to go to fanime 2006, first time

Bad: First night I was there I got yelled at for coming late to the hotel room from a friends friend that was staying there. Lots of hotel drama happened at Crowne Plaza.

<_< She ended up saying that she was our parent at fanime and I couldn't be out at the convention so late (came back at 3 in the morning while she was sleeping) She also didn't want the tv on at all in the room.

My friend chewed her out at least and said I was 18, then she left me alone. But I ended up staying with Kazuko at the marriott.

My feet hurt so bad from playing a lot of ddr, and walking, standing during the Music Fests and Kamijo's little live thing.

I ran out of money.

Not much sleep but I was expecting that.

Didn't eat much, and didn't get to buy much.

Lost a bag of my clothes, but it doesn't really matter.

My ears went out at the rave from being up front next to the base.

My voice went out for a bit.

I got a very harsh cold, that began to show symptoms on Sunday.

Didn't really get to meet many people.

Missed a lot of good panels, especially due to checking out Monday morning and leaving right away.

Sucrose

Bad:

- lost a very pretty Punch Drunk Tees shirt that I bought on Sunday (gold koi on a blue shirt) because I kept putting my bags down so people could take pictures of our Jet Set Radio group
- lost the Saki Hanajima dress that I made, SOMEHOW (we cleaned that room UP, and it's possible that somebody else packed it up, but I haven't seen it yet ;_; )
- didn't buy as much as I would've liked because of my paranoia about buying too much *laugh*
- missed watching Paradise Kiss
- didn't get any pictures of myself in aforementioned Hanajima dress
- no Man-Faye (and here I'd promised my online friends that I'd get a picture with him)
- didn't get as many pictures as I would've liked because I'm lame
- losing my from-home friends at the dance and feeling sick

Good:

- APPLES TO APPLES (good lord, that was an experience XD)
- the bizarre wonder of Magical Shojo Lyrical Nanoha
- restate above for A Bittersweet Life
- GetBackers gathering, which was my first gathering and a buttload of fun ^____^
- not seeing somebody I didn't want to see ^_^;;;
- all the random little things that went into making it a wonderful experience <3

Though it doesn't look like it from my list, the good farrrrr outweighed the bad, and I'll be happy if next year is as fun.

Masked furries are scary. I like my personal space, thank you very much.

Furries in general are scary. *gag*

The only really bad thing that happened to me at fanime was  I had some difficulty with my Ed Elric costume so the blood seals on my body were black instead of red.  Plus participating in the masqurade at my very first con about made me puke from nervousness.   Overall I had a lot of fun though, met cool people and showed off costumes...it really felt like home.

Oh btw  I personally didn't have any bad experiences with the furries, they pretty much kept their distance and seemed nice enough.  Of course their was one that sounded like he was a pedophile...which was doubly suprising cause he was really the only one in a fursuit I met that talked.

Sucrose

I thought the dude in the bat fursuit was perfectly pleasant, and he let me give him a big ol' hug without acting pervy or anything like that. (I'm quite fond of bats, and that's as close as I'm ever going to get to hugging one. *laugh*)

I thought the bat guy was nice, although the tip of his wing kinda caught my skirt as I walked off, but it seemed like an accident.

Bad things? Hmm, I bought a dress that didn't fit and I don't know the name of the vendor so I can't buy a new one. I didn't buy much because I'm not familiar with most anime  :(  Lack of good food in the area. I went to a vendor in the artist alley and discovered they didn't accept cards or plastic. I walked aaaall the way to the atm by reg., discovered it was out of order, walked aaaaall the way to the one by starbucks, got my cash and walked aaaall the way back to the vendor. Luckily they were nice enough to hold the shirt for me *is wearing it now!* Oh, and I also missed out on every panel I wanted to see, the Masquerade and the rave! I also didn't take nearly enough pictures. I still have a disposable camera I have yet to get developed. Oh! and the few pics on my other camera that I took came out awful because it was dark  :(

-My sunglasses may have been stolen by hotel maids (still unpacking, but doubtful i'll find them).
-I missed "Hot To Talk To Girls" which I feel I really needed to go to.
-I missed the Detective Conan movies I wanted to check out because I fell asleep watching Bleach.
-On the last day I awoke screaming due to an extremely intense leg cramp thanks to a busy night before.
-I woke up my roomies with previously mentioned screams.
-I didn't talk to an Envy I liked as much as I wanted.
-I didn't get to touch a girl.
-I didn't buy any DVD's.
-I paid $4 more on a Kakashi plushie than I had to.
-I only ate stale peanut butter sandwhiches and pringles the entire con.

Good:

-I was at Fanime 2006
.....well, I found my sunglasses. XD

Sora

Don't remember if I posted this, but in case I didn't: getting stirred up in drama that didn't really involve me.

XpHoBiaX

....okay

lol my ankle is still messed up. XD!!! Well, maybe I shouldn't be luaghing...cuz this is a 'tad' bit serious. it makes funny popping sounds and gives out occasionally. >_>

Touya no Miko

Man, so many people got sick. Myself included, yet I still had the strength to keep going. Two words people: Flu Shot.
OMG! What the Fugnuggets is going on?!

Kay-chan

Worst thing to happen to me:

I was handing out "I hella lurv your costume but I also respect your bubble" paper-things and I saw a Tux. Mask costume (I'm a total moonie) so I run up to give it to him...

And I stop in front of him but my feet keep going because my shoes are really slick on the bottom.  I totally just FELL ON MY ASS.

It's funny as an afterthought but I still cringe.
How come, on the commercials, there's all these people accepting medicine for their bloats/whatever from strangers?  Who are they and why haven't they died yet? Come ON, Darwin, do yo shiz!

MonkeyRikku

I got hair bleach in my eye and was half blind for most the con. It burned. ;;
Cuz thats how I roll, duh.

SilverStarboy

This wasnt at fanime but the worst thing that happened to me at a convention was I that I got my picture taken with Kristine Sa(J-Pop artist). The photo didnt develop. I was so mad!

Seeing, that I genuinely don't let bad things happen to me, or I rectify bad things that do happen, nothing really bad happened to me.

However, things that I could have gone with out.

People screaming about pocky for no god damned forsaken reason. Look people, it's just a crappy inexpensive cracker with a little bit of crappy chocolate on it. It's very low quality, and it isn't very good. You're kidding yourselves if you make it into something special, and frankly even though you will deny it... you only make a deal out of it because "ZOMG IT'S JAPANESE". Eat a twix... or a Kit-Kat, or a Melty Kiss, or a truffle... those are better snacks that have much higher quality chocolate and what not. Hell if you're so in love with stick with frositng, get yan-yan, even those are better, and about the same price.

Idiots wanting to hug me, and people I know... ... ... especially when we're not even in costume. I'm far from being conceited, but I'm decently attractive(Slightly above average). It irritates me when I'm walking down a hallway trying to get somewhere, or looking at something, talking to friends, or pondering purchasing something, and some random idiot(male or female) will stop me and ask for a hug. Even if I am(which I rarely am) in a costume, it's just retarded. If I'm in a costume and you want to take a picture, or take a picture with me, that's fine. Then there's the idiots that get angry or upset when denied a hug. It's bad enough how much leway I'm giving you because you're in a convention setting, if it wasn't, i'd probably tell you to go fuck yourself instead of politely declining.

This one asshole had the gull to hug my girlfriend(at the time) out of the blue I shoved him away, I woulda beat the crap out of him had she told me to just keep going because she wanted to get back to the room.

What else is there... Oh, idiots and dumbshits in the arcade/console area. It irritates me to no end when people bitch and whine, and complain about something they know nothing about. If you are genuinely knowledgeable about something, and can make coherent complaints that actually apply, that's fine, go ahead, because I might care enough to listen and discuss. But in the game room, everyone thinks they're an expert on everything. I was playing Guilty Gear Slash, my friend was playing Tekken 5. I had about a 23 win streak, he had an 30+ You have no clue how many times I heard people saying that I'm a cheap bitch ass hole that thinks he's good only because I learned how to do one combo over and over again threatening to kick my ass, and how many times my friend got threatened for being chip to him. Then they'd call all their friends over and stand behind me talking shit about me about how I have no life, and I suck at the game, and I probably can't get laid(jokes on them... though, there's no reason to get into my sex life right now).

Signs. People with signs. Any kind of sign outside of signs that are meant to be part of the convention and direct people where to go for convention events. There is no point for these outside of to try and exploit the stupid(AND BOY DO THEY DO) and attention whore yourself like a retard to gain sympathy/pity from people that probably could not survive in a real world environment. All they do, is cheapen you, get in the way of people that know better(and I can ellaborate if you don't get this one), and cause future problems ranging from tiny, to irritatingly annoying for staff(oh ho... the stories I coudl share).

SuperKawaiiNeko

Jesus christ, grouch much?

Listen pal, if people screaming out randomness for kicks, people with signs, or people otherwise randomly being happy or silly bothers you that much, you are in the wrong convention scene. Hell, I'd be willing to go so far as to say youre in the wrong fandom.

I can understand being upset about the arcade thing, but seriously. People come to Fanime to "let their hair down" so to speak. People are here to get away from "real life" and do things they wouldnt normally do, say things they wouldnt normally say, and act in ways they wouldnt normally act. Judging them based on their behavior at fanime is beyond misguided.

If your "real life" is so perfect you dont need this escape, fantastic for you. Why dont you stay there? But most of OURS arent. A huge portion of us got into the fandom because we're different. Didnt have a lot of friends in school for whatever reason, so we sat at home and watched anime and played videogames while everyone else was out partying or whatever. Fanime is a place for us to come together around a common interest. Fanime is a place for friends to hang out and get along without assholes stuffing them into lockers or "beating the crap out of them" or telling them theyre "idiots" or "dumbshits" because they act a certain way. Fanime is a place for people to smile. I suggest you learn to smile, or just dont bother coming next year, because I can just about promise that it's going to be more of the same.

Most of us wouldnt have it any other way.
