i need to use a gun in one of my cosplays and i was wondering if you bring and air soft gun that youve taken everything out of it so its just the shell and even taken the cartridge out can you get it peace tied or do they just not like air soft guns?

i believe you also need an orange cap on the end... but then again i have a feeling airsoft guns arent allowed in general. i dunno you'd have to look at the cons weapon policy or when in doubt email someone in charge of the cosplay policies ^^

Hm, I'm not expert or authority and certainly don't take my words down as the absolute truth.. But, I would think if said airsoft gun can be mistaken as a working firearm from a distance, then I would seriously think about putting an orange tip on it or find some way to make it not so realistic.

I know that a lot of people love being as authentic as possible and love having authentic looking weapons. Here's the rub: you may know you disabled it so that it can in no way harm anyone (without taking the darn thing and hitting someone over the head with it), but does the guy 10 feet or farther away know that?

Here's the Weapons Policy for 2006. The policy for 2007 may be the same or different..

you could use the airsoft gun you just have to take care of all the necessary precautions before bringing it. i did a anbu cosplay back in october for yaoi con and i used a dull katana (yes, a real katana) but i peace bonded it into the sheath using a plastic zip tie to make sure there was no way i could take it out and it was completely fine with the staff there. it all depends if you really want to go for accuracy - if so you just have to make sure it falls under the weapons policy. but if you dont want to go through the hassle of having it checked, then use a toy gun but i think you still need the orange cap on the end

Airsoft guys generally have orange tips on them. Anyways, during 2004 I got my airsoft gun peace bonded. ( It was gutted out with everything removed including the trigger) The guy that i showed it too at first made a big freaking stink about it, he was treating it like a bomb. I think they were both a little bit confused to see a girl wearing a skirt wanting to carry around a spas-12... It made me mad really, they were just talking their nerd talk and i just wanted to get on with it....

So you answer your question, yea they should allow it, as long as it has that tip.... no orange tip just forget it.

Advice for Lcukyend, why don't you just like hide hte gun, and then take it out when someone wants to take your photo? Oh wait... unless you want to bring it along with you all day.. then I can't think of anything right now, sorry!

If he does that and the staff see him (and they are one of the more uptight staff) then they will either ask him to return it to his room or confiscate it outright.

You could also be running the risk of concealed weapons issues should someone not involved with the con see it and notify authorities, basically... Airsofts are kind of a No-No... I used to have a bookmark for a site that offered some really realistic looking resin weapons, if those could be used as an alternative.
It all really depends how well the lies are told...

hmm good point ~Loktera~... Umm.. yeah, like what she said earlier, use fake weapons, those would work out
