Moar polls, this time featureing Nagato Yuki-chan

I voted #1; #3 seemed too deep.

Btw, they posted the subtitled version of the promo video. lol, subtitled "psychics" with "espers" and Yuki's actress says YA RLY. XD
New sn = Meirin

Agreed on #1. However, #3 was my second choice. I always imagined that Nagato Yuki would have a deeper voice in English anyway.
Haven't been here much since '09. I said some stupid, stupid things before (and after) that.

3 Does it for me. When I frame the episode playback with that voiceover, it's most akin to Yuki's stolic tone.

Uh, can I vote for #0 (Japanese)?

j/k, I voted #1, though people are right that #3 seems to have the "mechanical" tone down better; I just don't think Yuki should be completely stoic all the time.

Thing is, neither of these is really adequate in demonstrating the voice actor's capability with truly difficult lines. That's where the difference should become apparent.

LastElixir

well as much as all of them are not on par, it comes down to probably 1 or 3. (meaning i agree to chun and mduo in their own way). I can feel more emotions from number 1 but 3 is far more "mechanical". It's hard to come to a conclusion because we all like Yuki for different reasons. After some thought, I guess I have to go with accuracy, and I pick number 3.

I'm not voting at all. Please, don't hurt me!

But I wanted to show you guys this:

I'd have preferred it if she just said "nyoro~n" but this strip still wins.

Itsuki's voice actor poll is up (as predicted?): http://asosbrigade.com/auditions/ahappyguy.php

Went with #1. I would have gone with #5, but I think his voice was too deep, and he pronounced Haruhi not as well as #1. Itsuki's voice is sort of hard to make a vote for, though.
New sn = Meirin

LastElixir

it's hard to vote because all 4 of itsuki's voice choices suck. It's unfortunate.

Spiritsnare

So, apparently, as evidenced from LJ's sos_brigade, they're gunning for 5 merely because it's Crispin Freeman.

I, too, slipped a vote for 1, and gave these reasons on why the others suck on said sos_brigade thread:

#2: Gives Itsuki a surfer vibe. If you slipped words like 'dude' and 'gnarly' into his sentences, it'd match the voice. Itsuki's not that laid-back...
#3: Too...nasal?
#4: OK, this dude was going pretty well until the way he inflected "You have to see it to believe it." Something about that line just failed to connect. He's just waaaaay too eager and fast-talking - which is not the laid-back Itsuki we all recognize.
#5: Suave, yes, but too suave. Like, "My name's Bond - James Bond" suave. Also, the voice's quite deep. Just because Crispin Freeman is voicing doesn't mean it's automatically the bes--::dies under fangirl attack::

I personally would've had the seiyuu try to enunciate Itsuki's 'closed circle' lecture, but that'd be a bit spoileriffic, huh?

Yeah, the Itsuki voices are all bad. None of them have that improbably-jovial tone that makes him perfect.

#1 is too serious. "HaRUhi" too.
#2 is, indeed, a surfer voice.
#3 is almost good but he's a touch patronizing or something.
#4 too enthusiastic. He also says "Harui"
#5 is too deep but at least he gets the sort of midsentence chuckles right. His voice pains me though.

In the end, #1 is the least painful but that's not saying much. So bad.

Emerge

i went with 5, despite trying to avoid it. why was i trying to avoid it?

because it seemed TOO obvious the choice for itsuki...

mikuru - 2 (weeks before even knowing this site existed, i told myself that sandy fox WAS mikuru and this was as close to sandy fox as any of em have gotten)

yuki - 1 (she maintained that monotonous quality that the original had IMO)

Kyon has arrived: http://asosbrigade.com/auditions/akyonvoice.php

Kinda the same situation with Itsuki. Gosh, guy voices are so hard to cast. They should have done a line where Kyon's sarcasm is more prominent. None of these said "Haruhi" either, so we don't know anything 'bout that...

I guess I went with #2. He's the one that sounds like a 16-year-old the most...
New sn = Meirin

Spiritsnare

The funny thing? #2's also Crispin Freeman. But I think him to be a better Kyon than Itsuki.

#1: Has a slight lilt to it.
#3: Way too disdainful.
#4: "OMG IS THIS WHAT YOU CALL HABIT?!?!!?1/1/!ONE". Made me lol.
#5: Sounds like one of those children's-books-on-tape narrators.

Sucrose

The first three sound like the exact same guy trying to do slightly different voices, and 4 and 5 are just terrible. What a disappointment.
In mammals, Sucrose is digested in the stomach, into its component sugars, by acidic hydrolysis. The Glucose and Fructose are then absorbed into the bloodstream in the small intestine. (Lactose just isn't cool enough to enter into it.)

The cast list has been announced.

I found out while going to the A&M: Social board on GameFAQs and here's what was posted:

Quote from: DRCEQHaruhi Suzumiya - Wendee Lee
Mikuru Asahina - Stephanie Sheh
Yuki Nagato - Michelle Ruff
Kyon - Crispin Freeman
Itsuki Koizumi - Johnny Yong Bosch
Ryouko Asakura - Bridget Hoffman
Tsuruya-san - Kari Wahlgren

I see nothing but pure epic win here.

Tsubasa

I never watch dubs and I still know some names on that list. X_x  I guess they got some pretty "big" names then.

As far as I'm concerned, Crispin Freeman is in too much freakin' stuff.  I recognize his skill, but I'm not sure if I'd peg him for Kyon.
