I really like Geneon's licensing standards, so this good to hear?

Replies? Concerns? Spooges?

I had this Waffled three and a half hours earlier.

I'll only start scooping up Nanoha instantly if they have A's, because I feel that you can't have Nanoha without A's. Otherwise, I'll just wait for the boxset/thinpak.

You guys suck. Nanoha is fantastic and all, but... <3 Saiunkoku Monogatari

To my knowledge, Im not terribly familiar with Geneon. Are they any good? Examples?

Recent examples of Geneon licenses include Fate/stay night and Kannazuki no Miko.

I dont care about the quality of their licenses. Just because everything they license is awesome doesnt necessarily mean that ANY of their translations are good.

Spirit: how is one supposed to use Google to find out whether Geneon's translations are to one's taste?

I have a personal grudge against Geneon for the way they butchered Tsukihime. But I also have a personal grudge against Bandai for the way they butchered .hack//SIGN. My two favorite anime, slaughtered by those "professional" translators.

I mean, most of the time, I don't object to the "official" translations, but there were a few choices and lines in particular that just made me hate the jobs they did on both of those.

So even though some people seem to hate ADV, I haven't been bitten by any of theirs yet, and therefore, I don't dislike them.

Quote from: SpiritsnareWhy don't you just search for it?

I believe I've gone over this before.

Hey. Screw you. I dont see any comments on the translation and subtitling quality of the domestic release on that page, nor do I see why you have to be a dick about me preferring the reviews of friends who's opinions I know and trust rather than some faceless website.

I also like to stay away from website reviews because I have an irrational phobia of spoilers.

Sorry if I come off as overreacting, but I found that website to be unnecessarily rude.

Also: Thanks, mDuo.

That was my bad, but I have indeed told people to search over and over in the past and it's personally getting really annoying for me. But, still, that was my bad, and I'm sorry for that.

In regards to preferring personal reviews over organized ones? Well, sometimes you might just find what you're looking for in the latter. And sometimes you might Google up some random thread on some random forum that can tell you specifics on what Geneon's translations are like. And a good chunk of - if not most - websites mark spoiler reviews with spoiler warnings.
