It's strange. Really, now I felt that I've lived in some sort of bubble where all the servers I go to, and the cyber lounge I work at... it's the opposite. (I'm not being sarcastic, by the way. Seriously.)

The reason why I felt that way is that... stereotypically, girls don't play videogames. They normally try to play the easier classes. Take WoW for example-- girls like to choose melee classes because it's very easy just to go up to things and smack them. Also, they're typically high in HP so they don't have to worry about dying all the time.

But it's not likely they'd know how to tank, so props to Konata.

I assumed they don't normally choose casting classes because they're a bit more complicated. Not only are they more complicated, but you have a lot less HP. You also don't start out with much mana or useful spells, so you're useless until you level to a certain point. Also, as a mage, you pay attention to your buffs and you cast a set of spells in a certain order that you find is more mana-efficient, which I don't see many girls bother to calculate. (IE, you might see one spamming pyroblast and constantly using mana.) And when it comes to warlocks, you rely on your minion. Ideally, you use your tank Voidwalker, DOT like crazy, then spam all your dps spells right after.

As for priests... NO ONE WANTS TO BE A HOLY PRIEST! SHADOWPRIEST FTW. :D

There are also hybrid classes like shamans and druids. I've never in my life ever met a girl playing any of these. I get all giddy when I find out someone else plays WoW, and when I ask them what server than their main, it's normally...

"Oh, I play a hunter/warrior on blahblah server." It's also common for them to have a male character.

It's the opposite for the guys. "I play a mage/warlock on blahblah server." They sometimes have female characters, but only sometimes.

I started out as choosing male characters, because I'd preferred to be a boy. I choose girl avatars now, because I don't want to stare at a guy on my screen 24/7 now. XDDD

Do you think it depends on the area that we live in, or..? x.x

MMO talk is fun. I say don't be tied down by stereotypes and what not, play what's fit for you. People like to play different things and concentrate on different aspects of the game over time. Well I guess it's great that theres games like XI where you can play multiple classes.

I have to admit that many girls are not gamers, statistics show that, but it's always great to see some. Furthermore, I can still say that many girl players are not hardcore, but that's probably because they have lives unlike us guys. I've met around 30-40 girls on WoW over the past 2 years (end game wise) and I say 1-2 were a tank... majority were hardcore priests or healing druids (which are one of the major healing classes). Mage/Warlock/hunter damage dealers are quite common as well. It's rare to see warriors or rogues.

I personally play healing classes only. I enjoy micromanagement, and I enjoy dishing out damage even while being capable of healing. (with alts and offspecs) (Yes I'm a holy priest) Endgame is pretty rough and time-consuming, being a lvl 70 priest on WoW takes a lot dedication and it's quite often that I question my own life. Atleast my guild is 2nd on server trying to reach 1st? wwwww

I say we should all play the same MMO on the same server in the near future. Something good though, something GOOD.

Of course shadow is better than holy. Especially when pallys are better healers with like 700% more armor. Their healing to mana ratio is far more efficient and they cleanse for half the mana, gg. Plus illumination, BoP, DE and buffs like BoK? come on now.

On the other hand, when you are shadow, you have mind flay ticks with only 2-300 mana, VE and DoTs like VT for bosses. Shadowform + innerfire is pretty good medigation, and you have stuff like shadow weaving for warlock support during bosses. (Although many locks are incinerate for efficiency these days.) Yay holy priests with PoM, what else?

I wanted to prove how much of a loser I am, so here you go.

I'm sorry that I made this thread change to a short MMO discussion. XD;

But yeah, I guess you're right about the warrior thing, Jay. To be honest, I don't see many warriors for BOTH genders. Girls are normally hunters and rogues from what I hear. Mages and casters in general tend to be too troublesome or complicated-- but I don't mean to belittle girls.

Anywho, we SHOULD play MMOs together. I used to hang out in a IRC chan and we'd all try to find MMOs to play together. I guess we went through like... Yogurting, Trickster, and Mabinogi and whatnot. I'm not really up to playing RO, though.

It'd be fun.

As long as it's not one of those eyecandy MMOs with no content or deep gameplay. It's hard to find a good once since majority of MMOs are horrible these days. Atleast nothing worthwhile on long terms.

I'm willing to pick up a new game with you guys.  Lets keep our eyes open and consider our options.  I don't really think the current options are worth considering.  I'm kinda reluctant to pick up WoW myself.  And I'd discourage people from FFXI because it's comparatively hard to get into and requires a huge commitment to see worthwhile results.  Yes, even moreso than most any other MMO.

I don't know a thing about WoW, but in XI, it seems like most female players are any of the mage classes: black mage, white mage, red mage, or summoner.  If they do end-game, it's not uncommon to see them have more than one mage job capped @75.  They will play other things though.  I see a number of mages pick up jobs like ninja, ranger, or any DD job.

I'm a proud white mage.  I also play bard.  I revel in full support roles that require tons of micromanagement and MP management.  Preferably managing other peoples' HP too.  I've also played FS priest in RO.

haha preist class on RO is fun x: but tired of the constat BUFFS PLX

I play on a private server on RO its called ValkyrieRO you Mainly will see me in the Loki server but I am a GM on Odin which is highrate X3 (spanish support)

But from what I notice girls and guys Play Assasin Class because it is much of an easy class and it has been considered a cheap class. while Ninjas have low HP and same with some classes x__x; hence why cards are in build. assasin crosses annoy me :d

I mainly play High wizzard because I like to do element skills D:  I also like buidling up (before I went on a haitus I was one of the greatest and active wizzards) and I also play as Stalker, Star Gladiator (Taekwon Master) and soon to be archer

Hun, I'm sorry but I do think you're in a bubble. Or perhaps its where you meet these gals... >.>; Or perhaps I've been fortunate to meet more hardcore ones.

Most of the girls I know do not play the easy classes. And they know how to play. >.>;

I believe my close female friend might play a druid or something on WOW... I don't play that so I don't pay too much attention... (Its mostly RO for me..) I'll ask her sometime.

I'm up to picking up a game as well.. Any pay to play ones will have to wait till I acquire myself a lil jobby~ XD

Well, you have to realize that I'm talking about the majority that play. The ones who choose to consistently play-- wouldn't it be better to expect that they know what they're doing?

I see more girls than I befriend. Like you, Sunara, the girls I do choose to befriend tend to be more proficient in playing MMORPGs and games in general, so it's sort of expected that they'd know what they're doing. But you don't have to think of the non-casting classes as easier, because in a sense, they're not. They're just more straightforward and have less maintenance to deal with-- but are nonetheless still important classes. The idea of smacking things until they're dead is easy-- but that's just the idea, not the actual method of playing. The idea is what attracts most people who seek that sort of combat-system.

So we can't really judge from the people we associate with-- I refer to the majority.

Truth is, there is no real easier class, all the time. It's just some are more complicated than others. Some are more welcoming than others.
