Help out a con newbie?

This will be my second FanimeCon (I'm very excited) but I'm afraid I'm still clueless about a lot of things.

First and foremost, where and when (date and time) do we pick up our badges if we pre-registered? Last year, I was in my school's anime club and registered with them, so they delivered everything during a club meeting.

Second, I really want to take my younger brother to Fanime with me, for a few hours to shop for toys he want. He's seven years old, and would get in for free; however, I'm not yet eighteen. Is there any loophole to this, or can I/may I get our parents' approval for my brother to stay with me during the time he's at the convention?

Also, I was waiting for my account to be verified by an admin or something XD I got a little impatient, so I attempted to log in and it worked. Fancy that. I'm also happy I was able to sign up with this username (it's my fan name on my badge).

1. Badge pick-up is inside the front entrance to the convention center.
Registration Hours
Thursday, May 24th: 5pm - 10pm (Pre-registration/Early Registration pickup ONLY!)
Friday, May 25th: 8am - 8pm
Saturday, May 26th: 8am - 8pm
Sunday, May 27th: 8am - 7pm
Monday, May 28th: 8am - Noon

2. Im pretty sure there isnt really a loophole to this as I think its a liability issue for the convention and therefore would require an adult/18+ to accompany said child. You might want to email registration staff: [email protected] for verification.

Thank you very much! Are the lines generally very long for the pre-registration pick ups? I'm considering going early to pick up my stuff quickly and leave as I'll be by myself.

I understand. I'd be worried if anyone could easily bypass this rule and I respect the staff for being strict on these matters. Oh well, I can at least bring home another plushie for him ^^

Not too bad, but believe me, if you can make it out Thursday, its much better. That way, when you get to Con on Day 1, youre ready to go and have a blast. However, bring some reading material, a handheld device or your conversational skills to the line just in case.

Hee that's the plan! I already have all of my supplies and whatnot in mind. I really can't wait to come home from school and zip off to the con after a quick shower. Unfortunately, I'm not skipping school for Fanime (yay quizzes and such, plus I'm a nerd). I wonder how I'm going to cope all day at school on Friday...

Do I need to bring any specific identification material when I go to pick up my badge? I'm planning to bring my school ID. And, I've seen some avatars that have more than eighty pixels in height. Would it be okay if I were to use a 100x100 icon as my avatar?

All you need is a Photo ID.

For question #2: The badges and the avatars are already pre-made so to speak. I'm sorry that you can't choose your own, since it will be deemed to be expensive to the con, in terms of cost. I could be wrong on this, so Sen, can you clarify this for me?

Ah ok.

well, if you want an avatar that's 100X100, upload it to photo/image hosting site like http://www.photobucket.com or http://imageshack.us/

and then go to your profile, scroll down to the avatar hosting options and look at the one that says Link to Offsite Avatar and upload it from there. :D

To just sum it all up:
1) We require a government issued photo ID. Also, please please please (with a cherry on top) do not forget your printable postcard. You can get it from your account.

2) Sorry, we need a legal guardian to accompany a child!

Wow, I never saw that link for the receipt/postcard before! I was thinking a receipt would be very useful. Thank you for informing me!
