Oh, future reference:

Akihabara is actually blocked off so that no traffic can go through daily. That was because probably the sidewalks were so crowded on a daily basis it showed a threat to general safety in case of thievery and fire. Don't know why the police chased them off however. Too much Haruhiism maybe. Pretty soon you'll have Toyama Koichi calling it out as part of the reformation he planned :P.

Quick I need help! I was at the video store yesterday and on a whim picked up the first DVD. I just finished watching it. Yes AWESOME.

OK, two questions and the first is the most important one. What order should I watch the episodes in? The broadcast order or the chronological order as released in the Japanese DVD version.

The American release also follows the Japanese DVD release and shows the episodes in chronological order. I have read that the broadcast order preserves the quirkiness of the series, but the chronological order makes more sense.

So what are your guy's opinions on this? I have of course watched the first disk (chronological order) and I am downloading the series as we speak.  I need to make the choice before I watch the rest.

As for question number two, what did people think of the English dub? I enjoyed it alot, but I haven't watched it in Japanese yet.

According to the discussion at the Bandai panel, the limited edition releases from volume 2 on will have two discs: one with episodes in chronological order, and one in broadcast order (standard releases will have just chronological order).  However, the broadcast order discs will be a tad off because both versions of volume one just had the chronological order, affecting one of the episodes involved.

Bit of an update, but it looks like that the bonus discs on volumes 2-4 of the limited editions will have the whole series spread between the three discs, in proper broadcast order, so the issue of volume one is moot.
