XD yet another of kawaiiangel's anime threads, this time looking to find the CUTEST ANIME YOU CAN FIND (I'm talking like, so cute you tear up when you watch it)

just recently I found an anime called ichigo mashimaro, I watched the first episode & fell in love  :-*

I nominate Bottle Fairy and Tiny Snow Fairy Sugar.

You mustn't call Strawberry Marshmallow cute...  ;)

Sunara Ishi

There's plenty of cute series.

If you really want "chibi" cute, there's Potemayo.

There is:
Kamichama Karin
Pita Ten (I hear the anime sucks though)
Puchimon (manga)
Moetan (but stay clear if you can't stand perversion)
Shugo Chara!
Lucky Star

Personally, I think Nanatsuiro Drops is cute... >.> <.< >.>

And although I haven't yet watched it, there's also Binchou-tan. It looks cute.
And theres another one with a chibi girl/doll with a gun... Its a single episode thing... Can't remember the name though.

Though I can't evaluate these things by tearing up... I just don't. Its not me.. >.>;

Are you maybe talking about HoiHoi-San?

I interpreted that to mean that the twisted series don't qualify, but then Strawberry Marshmallow was arguably very twisted: alcohol and nicotine addiction, pedophilic lesbianism, and downright obnoxiousness.

ACK is ichigo mashimaro really like that? I just watched the first 2 episodes...I didn't know it was that crazy! ahaha....hehehe....I thought it was just like little girls learning english and going to school and being super cute...how wrong I was

There was also an anime that I remember watching that was REALLY CUTE about a group of little dogs, I can't remember if there were cats too, but it was about their miscellaneous(sp?) adventures, and it was on an american tv station for awhile...anyone know what I'm talking about?

Ichigo Mashimaro IS just about cute girls being cute and doing childish things. But people make more out of it because they're dirty pedos. The cartoon you're talking about... you sure it was a group of little dogs, and not a group of little cats?

Artists hate drawing dogs, since dogs actually take knowledge to draw each individual dog and its specific breed. To me it sounds like you're talking about "Tama-Neko".

Nah, it's not that bad as far as anime goes.  I was mostly kidding.  It's no worse than Kokoro Library or the Read or Die TV series.  Pedophilic lesbianism is just a recurring joke in anime.  Geneon did mark the series 13-up, though.  In episode 1, it did strike me as just wrong that the little girls would be so accepting of Nobue's smoking habit that they'd make her a new ashtray.  As for the drunken pedophilic lesbianism, wasn't it in episode 2 when Nobue oggles and assults Ana in a drunken stupor?  On one hand, it is cute, but it's also a quite twisted.  Part of what makes it funny is how very twistedly wrong the situations are in the show.  I believe it's in episode 3 when Nobue takes advantage of Matsuri's naiveness and convinces her to wear cat ears and a tail and say "nia" at the end of her sentences.  It's cute, but some of the situations are also just twisted and wrong -- and that twisted wrongness combined with the adorable cuteness makes it hilariously funny.  It worries me a bit that people find it to be only cute.

Not necessarily.  This is anime.  Ocha-ken bases its dogs on tea leaves and coffee beans.

Nyxyin: Not always... but the majority of the time. Kawamoto for example, studied Corgy's for months before he could correctly draw Ein for Cowboy Bebop. And many designers often say they prefer using cats because "Drawing a cat is drawing a cat, it doesn't matter, if you draw a cat, people will know it's a cat. Dog's however, people always question what kind of dog it is, and how a dog has so many details to be a certain breed".

N'ah, IchiMashi isn't meant to be like that. The way Nobue acts is supposed to be a moe moe for just how cute(childish cute not sexual cute) the kids are.

Smoking in Japan is looked differently upon than in the US. Everyone smokes in Japan, and if they don't, they are next to a smoker. It's not a major thing at all. Neither is drinking really. Well in the comic Nobue is only 16, in the cartoon they made her 20.

One of my favorite cute shows, was more than just because it was cute, but more than just being cute.

Gargoyle of the Yoshinagas.

Amazingly well written for a show that seemingly was only meant to be cute.

Interesting.  I didn't know that.  Is that why dogs are sometimes so detailed in anime that they don't seem to fit the rest of the art style?  (I personally think Pero-pero is cute and recognizable as a dog just as he is.)

I read that in the Wikipedia, but I'm pretty sure she's 20 only in the first episode.  Since her birthday is the next day, she should technically be 21 for most of the series.  (I don't have a point.  I just wanted to share this trivial little observation.)

I'm sorry for asking a personal question, but what's the difference between Pyron and Jun, and why are both using the same account?

Pyron is me, a guy, I am currently in a relationship with Jun. They temp banned my account for a week to only access /b/ because I told Chun that his art sucked and didn't spell out exactly why, in an attempt to reflect how he tells other people about their artistic skills when he comments(this would take some explaination and examples from places that are not here, so it won't make sense). Tony wanted a reason to ban me, and he saw that as a reason to.

Even the dog in IchiMashi...~ ^^. Dogs are more familiar and loved in Japan in terms of family orientation, so artists are starting to use dogs more than before. I had this same conversation with a friend of mine concerning another forum a few months ago actually so we both learned a lot of things we didn't know concerning this by asking different character designers she knows, and assistances and what not.

To second a point-- Dogs are more loved in families in Japan, and most would prefer owning a dog... but cats show up more frequently in anime because they're easier to draw and that there are stray cats all over Japan. You don't need to go into detail drawing a cat, but I agree that some artists put dogs into such detail, they do seem oddly out of place! Some dogs don't even... really look like dogs, just cute little alien creatures like Potato from AIR.

20 is the legal age in Japan. In the manga, she was originally 16 years old. They had to make her of legal age because the series was aired on public television, and they didn't want to promote underaged smoking and drinking. 'Twas supposed to be her 17th.

I love Ichigo Mashimaro. \o/
