Yes! Thank you Tony! Now I see the future:

One sunny afternoon, the Rovers(Safety) mysteriously become so deathly afraid of glompers and seme paddles that the entire department breaks up and runs out the convention center screaming. Because all the Rovers are gone, no one is there to enforce the Weapons Policy. The result? In 2009, someone gets beaten, kicked, and abused with weapons and Fanime gets sued for letting old Bob hit little Mary with his zanpakuto. Mary wins the case, taking money from Fanime and thus, Fanime can no longer afford to happen because Mary had to complain. Darn you Mary... *shakes fist in rage*haha, I kid. lol. Hope I didn't take it too far though... :/

2009 will be its last year.  ;) Oops!
Oh you kidder.This guy is always good for a laugh. I know he's kidding....your kidding right? *nervously starts to sweat.*
But in all seriousness, it seems like fanime consumes more of san jose when it ever needs more room. Pretty soon half of san jose will be occupied during fanime.

Mister_E

Then after that we'll take over the rest of San Jose and rename it FANIME JOSE!

WHO-HA!!!

What year do you think Fanime will go to? I'm just wondering, I'm thinking of going in the future.

Interesting question.

The only history that anime has to compare itself against would be comic and SF conventions and each of these has had a trend of growing and dying for different reasons and while each is no longer in its glory days, they still do exist in one form or another.  Some have expanded to become monsters, like ComicCon, while others disappear off the face of the Earth, TimeCon.

As for FanimeCon, well, we are booked the SJCCF in downtown San Jose until 2017.

As long as FanimeCon continues to expand its appeal to the general audience, than we will continue to remain in one shape or another, but I highly doubt that any of us will recognize it in 2020.

The year 2017:
1) gasoline = $10
2) 1 Canadian Dollar = $3 US dollars
3) The US government auctions off the state of California on ebay to help pay the national debt
///
4) There will still be FanimeCon  ;D

I hope you meant $10 per gallon on unleaded gas when you talked about gasoline. lol.

AbsolutelyCursed

Fanime will go on until pigs develop wigs and fly.

Roguethe

It's hard to put a date on something like that.
But look at all the other kinds of conventions that still thrive with much less fans.
I'm sure it will be around for a long-long time ^^

I draw sometimessss

Didn't realize we were gonna get so in deph.^^;
Barring something like ww3 or a virus that will devastate humanity, I think fanime will be around for a long time. Maybe in a smaller form and maybe in a bigger form, but in someway our con will survive. Fans exist therefore fanime exists.
Tru dat good sir! Tru dat

2012? I heard there's a doomsday on that year. But I kinda doubt it. If there's no doomsday then probably FOREVER!!!

As long as there's anime there's Fanime. It's for the fans ,by the fans. So as long as there's fans, there's Fanime. Fans and anime make Fanime.      8)

As comparison, I think the oldest convention for a similar fandom is WorldCon, which started in 1939.

In 2017 many people will be considering Bleach and Naruto to be "old school" animes. That will be scary.
