I'm working my way through the websites....still along with the sewing. By tonight, the hand sewing of the silver trim will be finished for my cape.

And I appreciate your concern, but there's no stress now. I already missed my first chance, so all I can do is go forward to be ready for the next one. All of you are so inspirational that's why I'm staying right on it! I already put so many months and hours into it, after all.

Any ways, thanks for the picture links kimu. Your right that pic of Di getting in position does look like he is attacking Ester and me  :D i'm compiling an album to take with me to Isreal and i am looking through all the pictures i can find to show the families we stay with. I probably should leave out the protesters and my hair with out the habit. I don't want to scare them that badly  ::)

Catherina should get at least half (if not more) of the clothing blame.  I'm not the one who makes you dress up in ridiculous priest outfits.  In fact, I distinctly remember putting forth a motion for an au naturale manga appearance.

And yes, why take the easy way when as a proper Abel, one can go the hard suffering way, right? There is much more to be learned in life, this way....  ;)
Actually, other than the part of the collar of doom and the tricky angles there, Abel's silver trim is actually easier to do than the clouds I hand-sewed onto Sairin's skirt with that soutache cording on dupioni silk. There's just a lot of silver trim, up and down all those cape slits and the slits in the vestments. Although I'll wait to total up yardage until I'm done with it...there are some things one just does not want to know until after the fact....(And thank heavens Abel doesn't have full circle skirts! That's a pain to hem!!!)
I made a decision with the two costumes I made this year I wanted them "competition level" quality, to the best of my abilities. Sairin already got me a 2nd place finish (actually a top 5 of 120 entries) at Cherry Blossom. And whether I enter Abel in anything, or never, I still wanted that level of quality.
When it came time for the edge trim, I made a decision to use the sewing machine on the hidden inside seam of my self-made bias trim, fold over and hand stitch down the inside. Many, many more hours of work, but the look is so much nicer with a silver shiny edge. If the trim was white, the top stitching doesn't stand out, but metallics show that stuff more. And truly, you can thank THORES and the manga crew for the silver!!! aaargh.

And yes, Cain, your threat to show up with nothing but wings and smile didn't happen, did it?
Like the Orden has any room to talk about the AX with those outfits. how many belts does Di have? How much trim on Di and Issak? Cain's cape? The armor? Cripes, even the RCO Caterina is insane. (Which reminds me, I'm soooo happy to be cosplaying Abel, not doing a manga or artbook Caterina!!! Thankfully I don't have the face to pull her off, as my friends pointed out to me when picking my TB cosplay...whew!)

And regarding the pics to take on the trip to Israel, Sister Kate, I'd agree about being thoughtful about them. That's a special trip and so you want to be respectful to those families and their culture.
Of course, making sure there's nothing with any hair out of place would also be a good idea.

And as for Abel's suffering...For me the long quest of collecting money for Fanime 2009 has begun! I have already been getting small jobs here and there and grabbing pennies off the ground(I found a quater the other day!)...*sigh* My pile of slowing growing cash will hopefully become a Fanime badge one of these days!!!

Hey lovely people! I misses my groupies!

I'm bored at work and being bad and using the internetz *evil laughs* How is everyone?

So...Ion need some tune-ups. Like, major tune-ups. To be honest, Ion was made in like, less than two weeks so it was a rushed job. A lot of it is going to be remade, like, pretty much everything. I'm actually going to make the chest plate out of plastic/sheet metal as opposed to fabric like I did this year. Hopefully I'll be satisfied by the time Anime Weekend Atlanta rolls around. It'll be my first out of state con if everything works out.

Oh, yeah, which reminds me. Plane tickets cost my f'ing soul! I hate it, a small piece of me feels like dying everytime I think about it. But, it needs to get done unfortunately, meh.

So, expect updates in the future with pictures of Ion's tune-up. Also, if anyone has an cosplay ideas that I can do seeing that I have that pretty blonde wig for Ion that could double for a second cosplay, please let me know. I love ya guys!
