No. There wasn't. Firefox 3 is the first to attempt to measure and verify this sort of stat.

However, numbers were floating around like there were 1.6 million downloads of Firefox 2 when it came out, so they had to at least beat that, some people were hoping for 4 million.

Both of those numbers were soundly trounced, with between 7 and 8 million total downloads, depending on whom you ask.

Has the Session Manager plug-in been updated for 3.0?

Basically, the big improvement is behind the scenes, so to speak.  Essentially, it uses up less memory (and does a better job of working with the memory it does take up) and is noticeably faster than 2.x.

*looks at fanime load time*
it can be as fast as it wants.  as long as the fanime servers are a POS, it doesn't change anything. :P

Unless you have a crucial add-on that hasn't been upgraded to be compatible with 3, I'd say upgrade.  It's definitely better, IMO.  Some folks may not like the new address bar and/or tab bar, but there are already add-ons and workarounds that get them working more like 2.0 in terms of style.

Not true.

The rendering and scripting engines are faster. So there's less delay between receiving the data and showing the page, and there's less delay between clicking a javascript link and that script executing.

I've also come to quite like the AwesomeBar, which I use surprisingly often.

i got it, and i like it a lot.
i got piclens while i was at it, and i like that a lot too.

i loved how as i read your post, lactose's post right below yours wasn't loaded due to said slow servers.  so yes, it loaded what fanime sent me faster, but it still didn't solve the fact that the fanime server fails at loading the pages completely in a decent time frame.

It's been at least a month since I've had any problems lately with pages loading. They all load completely, and quickly. Perhaps your own internet/ISP setup is at fault?

I've FF2.- at work, and FF3.0 on my laptop. There's been noticeable improvements in both speed and functionality- keyword-based address bar search is a godsend, though there has been the occasional (and very minor) hiccups.

this is a consistent problem no matter where i connect to fanime from.  my internet in san jose is faster than hayward and it happens like 60% of the time in both places.  yes the load time is better overall, but it doesn't solve the load halt that fanime gives me.  this has also occured on 2 different computers; my new desktop and my old laptop.
