So yeah I was wondering, where do you get your money for fanime?

Me. I work at Carl's Jr. but most of my money goes towards my car insurance and gas money.  Then the rest of the money I save but by the time I have enough fanime money it's time to pay off the new semester and books.  It's a miracle that I get any money for fanime.  I fear the day I actually have to move out of the house.  :P

Anyways, I know some of you have these crazy shit budgets.  I mean srsly, $500-$1000 for fanime?!  SWEET CHOCOLATE CHRIST.  WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSION?

normal work. my budget is usually around $500, but its broken down into various sections.

basically, if i instantly deduct my hotel room/food/emergency cash/other funds, i really only have around 200-250 for the dealers room, and i usually end up with close to $100 bucks leftover by the end of the convention.

1)

I budget my spending. Gas money = 150-200 bucks a month at current rates depending on how often and how you drive. Yes, how you drive affects your gas usage. Food and other expenses are budgeted monthly.

2)

I work staff. I don't PAY for a badge, I pay for a hotel room with other staff (Thus reducing the costs even further), and I budget the amount of food I eat at con. This means I have lots of extra cash to pay for the other things that I may or may not want to buy at Con. However, in the last 3 years, I have not bought anything. At all. Well, except a set of daggers but that was for shits and giggles.

3)

I run a computer company in Fremont called PC Microworks. I'm the COO supposedly (Yay fancy titles that mean crap). I don't make that much at all, but I'm awesome at monthly spending budgeting.

4)

If you don't need it, don't buy it. I try to not go out too much (This always tends to fail). MMORPG's are cheap ways to entertain yourselves. I don't currently have a GF (My last gf cost me...well lets just say lots of money over a short amount of time).

Dunno if that answers the question. Heh. I'm going to bed.

I just saved up over the months before Fanime 2008, I try to find the best and cheapest room at the Marriot (I have my ways). I don't have a Job at the moment but soon a friend of mine is leaving his to move to San Diego to go to College there he got his AA in the mail 2-3 weeks ago so I might get his Job.

i save.  i looked at the costs and i'm staying at my apartment on 11th st. for 2009.  screw paying 40 for a hotel, i'll just pay the 32 or whatever it is for daily parking.

Fanime is what Tax Refunds are for.  :-)

I usually get about 900 in my tax refund, I save it for Fanime.  Makes things easy, and it's more than I really need for fanime so YAY!
Sometimes I'm glad I became a teacher.  Other times I wish I had simply become a ninja.

I use the money from artist alley of a year to pay for reg an' junk for the next. Otherwise, like anything else I get, I just swindle people out their money.

8O I work

but I denno :U with Baby the stars shine bright bound to open this winter or so I may have to dip into those funds for my hot brand name dresses

Hakaru_chan

haha phil this is a good topic... anyways you and me worked this year so lets try that tax refund thing (not really sure how to do it but i do have the turbotax problem in my computor so i guess ill just fiddle with that)

if you want to know what i do... ask joseph lol. i basically act like a bum  :D

i put aside a piggy bank and collect change from everywhere i go and everytime i get the opportunity. i collect right after fanime so assuming i forget about my piggy bank and not use it.. i get around umm 60 to 80 dollars extra spending money. not bad. but then again, it goes towards all my cosplay expenses  :P

i also collect bottles and cans and recycle them (YES IM LIKE A BUM) but it only gets me back less than 20 for the two months i've collected  :P

I completely overlooked the whole tax refund thing cause last time I only got $28, granted that I was only working for a few months by that time but still.  I'm really curious about what other otakus do to fund their hobby.

Sadly enough at my age, I have to ask my dad for money...-_-;

He always tells me "you bought more useless cartoon things again" when I carry a few cases and bags of stuff back into the car...

Usually, I average $350 for the last 5 years that I have been attending the con which has to cover my rooming, food and what I buy. Generally, I spend about $40 for the 4 days for food, $20 for alcohol w/ mixers, $80-$90 for rooming for 3 nights and ~$200 for animu stuff (which 80% of it goes into the swap meet). Of course $5-$10 goes into MvC2/Melty Blood arcades as well.

I always never had enough finances for fanime.
This year it's different.

I can easily make the money I need for fanime this year. It's just a matter putting a few bucks aside for that.
I'll have to budget anyways, as I will mostly be getting paid with cash. ;) But that isn't anything new.

Depends on your degree (if you have one)

If you just want money, work at McDonald's or BK.

EDIT: ok, so you don't have one. Just... get through college and leech from your parents while focusing on your grades...

I have no idea if that halps your fanime funds but it sounds like a good idea.
