Hey there, Sailor Moon fans and visitors. This thread is just an idea I thought of. It's hard to find good role models for women now-a-days. The media is filled with superficial, shallow, characters. Yet when we look back on the Sailor scouts/senshi we see beautiful women with different strengths that were all admirable. In this thread 7 (or more) young women will choose a sailor senshi who they aspire to be like but find themselves lacking in their qualities. The goal is to keep up with one another, strive to be as much like that Senshi as possible, and come fanime meet, dressed as their senshi.

Make sense? I'll use myself as an example. I have chosen Sailor Neptune because I want to have more confidence in the way I look and show more confidence and elegance in the way I act. My goal is to lose weight and take better care of myself physically so I can be healthier and happier.

I know it may sound strange at first but until I had a picture in my mind of who I wanted to be I didn't have the drive to change. We could all use a little self modification. I'm not saying to change who you are, I'm saying to improve on who you are. Sailor Neptune is a fictional character so I could never be just like her but maybe I can acquire some of the strengths she displays.

2) Young women/future senshi, stay anonymous in the thread. If you want to talk more personal through email that's fine but because this is a public forum I'd advise against it.

I'm the chick that is evil for a very long time, has an antihero complex, dies twice in the first 2 seasons and is brought back only to suffer from a complicated love/hate relationsip with her personal morals, dissappears for like 3-4 seasons, and comes back as the best damn character no one ever remembers.

I have the same birthday as Mina / Sailor Venus.  Amazingly useless trivia fact.

Good luck with your group!  I'm am old and overweight, so to be kind to everyone concerned I will not be cosplaying as a Sailor Moon character.  :D

Someone mentioned Luna having a human form.  Yes she does.  You only see it in the Manga and one of the movies (if memory serves) but she's very pretty with a yellow dress and long hair.

I don't fit any of the scouts' descriptions. I am actually trying to remember a lesser known character that does help the Scouts, but isn't directly involved with them throughout the series. Like I said, "the best damn character no one ever remembers."

And I'll probably opt out of the group thing. I have tattoos and piercings all over. I don't cover them up for family events and don't want too for cosplay.

To join the thread you're not so much supposed to choose the one you are like but one you wish to be like. That aside, I don't expect everyone to have an innate desire to be like a sailor scout. Clearly this isn't a series that suits your fancy and that's perfectly respectable. Neither would I demand that someone cover up who they are or how they identify themselves. People should be themselves but I believe as people change inevitably by the natural passage of time, it is necessary to self modify. Not everyone has to believe that, it's what keeps me going. Having a role model to aspire to be like (as in not the same) works for some people to modify. That isn't so for everyone, nor do I expect it to be. If emulating a sailor scout doesn't improve on who you already are, then don't do it.

This thread could still be cool just for nostalgia sake.  I actually wouldn't have mind modeling myself after tuxedo mask but eh, the option wasn't there.  But then again I wouldn't have been taking it srsly... since the only reason I'd wanna be like him is cause he's hitting people in the face with roses.
