I should probably be asking else where but whatever, just try your best.

My laptop is really really noisy.  Like it sounds like the insides are either about to die or explode.  What I probably need to do is clean the inside, most likely the fan.  Can I open up my laptop myself to do this or should I be asking a pro to do it for me?

Hi, I'm guessing it's a Sony laptop. If it is all you have to do is take off the covers to access the fans, vacuum it (while everything is off of course.) I'm pretty sure if it's an HP (Why do they put the fans on the BOTTOM of the laptop?!) you just need to vacuum the bottom. Also invest in a cooling pad for the laptop too, I snagged one for 40 with 4 usb ports on the back and it keeps my laptop REALLY cool.

Sadly many laptops have the fans on the bottom. >_< Mine does and my old one did. but it sounds like your fans are having to work harder to keep your comp cold so as try vacuuming out all fans and you might as well vacuum out all other ports.

I don't know much about laptops but from what i can tell from the stickers it is an HP.  compaq presario v6000.

But by vacuuming my laptop do you mean to say its okay for me to unscrew the entire bottom cover of my laptop or just vacuum near the vents?

It's really hard to help explain without seeing it but maybe someone else can help you.

You realize he gave you the model number, so you can see it.

Fan is on the bottom. So realistically he'll need to pull out most of it to properly clean it, which I suggest against since he seems to know jack nothing about computers. Laptops are tricky, and you'll usually have to detach a number of things which can easily break and be a pain in the ass to try to fix. Easy method, go with Mizuki's suggestion about getting a cooling pad/fan for it. In the long run, it's better anyways.

I wouldn't open them, Usually a quick vacuum near the vents (when the pc is off!) should be okay, and buy a cooling pad. I have a Targus AWE01US, it's really good and keeps my laptop cool. If I didn't have it my laptop would be a toaster.

Good advise, but if dirt is realy caught on the blades, a simple vacuuming may not get it off.  Usually you have four or five screws on the bottom of a Presario that have to be removed to take the top part of the case off (Where the trac-pad and keyboard are), to access the interior.    The Fans are generally off to one side of the case.  Usually, you can clean off a lot of the dust and lint with a small soft artist paint brush.  If you intend to use some canned air to clean it, 1. do it in a well ventilated area,  2.  wear a dust mask,   and 3.  blow it out from the inside side of the fan, outward towards the vent, and use short bursts of air to clean it.

I know but without having one right in front of me (or at least prior knowledge of how they come apart) I can't really help. I'm not the best at looking at online pictures and seeing how to take something apart. As you said there are many parts that could break and I wouldn't want to recommend something that ends up breaking.
