well, looks like i dont have to get the import anymore.

cover your ears from the screaming fangirls...

Late August, probably late Q3/Q4.

Anyone else played it yet? Any good? Logic make sense all of why all the FF universe is meeting in one fighting tourney?

I suppose its going to be better than:

Anyone remember this game?

I don't know if I want to get the import version or wait until it comes here in the U.S. I heard good stuff about it from my friends.

I was thinking of getting that a couple of years ago, I saw it at gamecrazy but I didn't want to cause I was buying something else at the time.
You tame a dog with food, you tame a man with money, but you can never tame the wolf of Mibu (Miburo).

I played the JP version a few months ago...

It was all exciting at first...but then I felt that it got kinda tedious. I beat the game with a few characters (Squall, Cloud, Tidus..ect.) and got through all their storylines, then I just started to lose interest. The story lines are...ok...I guess..
I would rather NOT play VS with anyone in this game unless I was bored waiting in line at AX to watch Morning Musume  :P (or something along those lines.)

It's probably because I'm a fighting game nut...and there really isn't too much to it in this game. Anyway, it's just my opinion...

I found Crisis core more enjoyable, despite my brain tiring out from translating the nihongo all the time. Even though I already beat the game a long while ago (I didn't bother playing the US release when it came out)...I found that I preferred playing it again instead of Dissidia.

Intro is cool though  :) Also, my favorite fight cut scene would be Squall VS Ultemicia.

All in all ..... I thought it was cool to see some of the heroes interact with each other and watch the intro...but if I wanted to fight I'd rather play Ehrgeiz

Why do I really doubt the first bolded thing, and laugh at the second?

I have about 50hours logged into dissidia during my morning and evening commute from work. Been playing since JP release(since lololol it came out when I was there). The game is long. So everyone has their base story stages, 5 chapters, first run through will take about 45-hour according to how quickly you pick up the game, and how much you try to accomplish. You're forced to do a second run through to get items only unlockable after you get a 2star or higher rating(which you should easily get).

1-X. After you beat that, you unlock the "final dungeon" where all the characters unite pass their base stories. That's 4 parts 5 CH each, and these will take a little longer. After that 3 bonus dungeons are unlocked, the FFXI and FFXII dungeons, plus a final dungeon. All of which are 5 chapters.

So just beating everything one time(seriously, good luck beating the last dungeon without revisiting dungeons or something to level... unless you do the exp exploit to gain hella exp fast).

Each dungeon then has the unlockables after you beat them once. Getting all of that, you will have about... 30% of the stuff in the game available to you. All the items in the shop that aren't traded, all the summons etc.

To get rarer items you have to accomplish goals in fighting or get them in the little mini adventure game thing which is kinda retarded so I won't get into it.

As for the fighting itself. Since there is so much customization going on(lolol if you only finished the first stories, you were at MOST level 20, which means you had unlocked not even all the base attacks, let alone any of the customization stuff). You're basically given points and you can equip whatever abilities, attacks, attributes you want allotting those points.

In general, there's ways you want to customize people. Zidane for example you'd rather boost his jumping abilities than you would want to boost critical+ on close range attack. While with Squall, you would rather increase crit on counter hit than you would say... increase height of jump on double jump.

You also get a bunch of different attacks, some are kinda useless. Against CPU, the game is kinda stupid since all you're doing is repeating patterns. Certain things will cause the CPU to lose, while they will NEVER get hit by other things. But against players, who don't have .01s reactions, how you customize attacks matters significantly. I mained Cecil first (who is pretty horrible in the long run of the game) who has nothing really. A decently fast land projectile, and a good air HP damage attack(as apposed to Brave damage... Brave is like armor and strength. The more brave you have the more damage you do. If you lose all of your brave the enemy gains a big boost of brave). Both of which have a long delay of recovery. Cloud on the other hand has an INCREDIBLY fast base ground attack and air attack, both of which LINK INTO an HP attack. Which makes him extremely good. It's easy to land not any a single attack on forward, it'll be easy to punish almost any missed or dodged attack, and it leads to HP damage as well.

I've tinkered around a bit with almost all of the characters(not really any of the bosses, but atleast all the heroes, shantoto, gabranth, and a few bosses). There are a lot of playable characters, and most importantly, different ways to play them with customization. Some characters are pretty useless though, which is sad.

I think it did well though, for an RPG action fighting game.
