You think that the protesters will return next year.

I would totally be cool with doing anime-themed protest signs. I bet that there are a lot of Jet Set Radio-themed ones I could do with my Ryth cosplay...

I think that someone needs to get a cosplay group together where everyone cosplays a protester and carries a protest sign. It's the only thing that makes me a little sad that signs are banned in the con. XD;;

SimaSeph

How odd would it be if someone who conquered China, like Sima Yi, was carrying a "Free Tibet" sign?  :D

I thought about doing a "Turn to Zeon or burn in Hell or whatever" but then I thought nevermind.

HA HA!
Sometimes I'm glad I became a teacher.  Other times I wish I had simply become a ninja.

ummm....during Sima Yi's time...China was just a bit bigger than Texas and barely reached half way to Lhasa...

I'm aware China was quite a bit smaller, history is actually one of my favorite subjects. I've read many books about that particular time period as well. But the idea of a (posthumously titled) Chinese emperor with a "Free Tibet" sign just seems amusing to me.

I think a Hitler stash and that sign would put a spin on things...

I must admit, that too would be very amusing. A Hitler stash and anything related to peace would cause quite a stir.

to claim the free tibet movement is a movement of peace is complicated too

Also true, but if people following the movement really cared for the wishes of the Dalai Lama the movement would be entirely peaceful.

I'm still curious.  What exactly did we do to warrant a protest?  I mean goodness knows we're not perfect and some of the stuff might raise a few eyebrows with some groups.  However, why did we warrant a protest when other conventions don't?  Any ideas?
Because.
Just because.

ill tell you why, coz you have a sexy beast like me there... NO NO NO im not conceited i joke i joke lol

well i asked my mother who is MAJORLY against anime, manga, and ANY anime convention all around. she IS christian herself, just to get it out there, and this was her answer (yes i wrote it down and posting what is written down;

"it is morraly wrong the way the women are portrayed as 'sexy', women should NOT show skin like that, it is slutty and whoreish. women are NOT pieces of meat." to write this next part i have to explain my parents were in SJ when a previous FanimeCOn was out and about and saw a lot of people dressed up and saw signs for it so she knew "From what I have seen, young boys should not be hanging around  with women who have nothing more than a short skirt and underwear and a bra on. It is a sin, sinful indulgance and if God had his way, there would be no Anime, or conventions to boast their popularity"

thankfully i am NOT but there you have it, thats the idea of ONE hard core religious woman.
me i am agnostic leaning twords Wicca. but i believe if there is a god, and he IS against anime and conventions, than why has he not killed the anime nerds/ otaku? lol

If you really want to piss her off, tell her that technically God created evil.

wow RadioActiveKitty... conceited???? ANYWAY this is mainly to a moderator but anyone can answer if you truthfully know the answer.

Will you get kicked out of Fanime if you form a NON VIOLANT Protest against the protesters?

I mean I will make REAL sure it does not get out of hand and all. So yeah, I am pretty good about protests I know when to back off and I know when to keep going.

I still would like to know as someone said, what did we go to warrant a Protest?

ewu

these guys were in front of the convention center, a public area. You all can do whatever you want as long as it isn't illegal....

As for entering the convention center. It is the call of the convention center staff. Since Fanime is running a convention at the center, our desires have considerable sway with the staff. Don't do anything that will piss us off of your badge will be revoked, membership canceled, and escorted from the convention by very sexy rovers, or the sexy police, depending on the infraction....and just cuz you wanna be carried out by sexy men, its no reason to break the rules.
