Well it turns out that my friend will have no money for Con as he is paid monthly and will not be starting his job for a while. I offered to pay for him. But he said that he didnt want me to add did not see the point in going all that much. Now i know that Fanime is fun. But he has never gone to a convention, and thus does not know how fun it can be. He wanted specifics. I said everything was fun, but he didnt except the answer.

I am wondering, what exactly makes Fanime, or any convention fun?

I'm using this Thread as a way to lure my friend in BTW.

Maybe you should tell him in detail what you find fun about the convention. Mention the events you always go to and what you do in the down time (whether it be watching the people in costume, or shopping in the dealer's room, or looking at the art in Artist's Alley). If he's going with you, he'll probably end up doing a lot of things with you, which means he'll be doing a lot of the things you find fun - so to accurately describe what goes on, you should tell him what you do at Fanime in detail. It's always more fun with friends after all.

It's funny you guys are mentioning things that he can 'buy'. At most I plan to give him $200 past room. So he will have little money to spend on things.
It should also be noted that I went to little events. I can't really say much about them =P

Actually, I rarely if EVER buy anything at cons. Mostly because I can get it else where, which is more convenient for about the same price, sometimes cheaper. The only stuff you can't get else where is fan stuff from artists alley. The internet is amazing, I can conveniently order anything online... even a tenga fliphole(do not google this). Not that I need one, but I COULD!

As for the OP: If he doesn't want to go, he doesn't. He sounds like he doesn't, don't force him. What's there to do? It matters when and with whom. Most of the "fun stuff" is more about who you're with than what you're doing imo.

I would not force to go if he really didn't want to go under other circumstances, but in these I can't. Are room is under his name, as he was conveniently 18 and was very enthusiastic about going. So I really have to have him go.
And it's not that he doesn't really, its just that he does not want to barrow my money and is getting nit-picky about everything so he has a reason not to. He also seems to think that the only point of FanimeCon is to buy stuff. Probably got that idea of me trying to save so much money. Plus he's a lazy flake =P. Cant tell you how long it took me to get him to go to D&D with me.
And plus I think it would be a good experience for him to go to a Convention. His first will be Super-Con probably because the shop he works at will be a vender there, but Super-Con is kinda meh, or at least looks it.

Tell him that he there are extenuating circumstances that require him to go. I mean sometimes you have to bite the bullet if it's for the best of your friends (I know that sounds like a jerk)

But if you really want to give him a reason to go, what better reason than all the cool people you meet, and late night life that ensues, honestly that's one best reasons I go for.

Hes Anti-Social =P
I mean, I personally consider myself Anti-Social, but he really is.
Or at least he says he is.
At the very least he does not prefer social events...

Maybe having him go will make him hate cons in the end. That's a possibility also =P

Just use your Geass power. If that doesn't work then it impossible.

Only thing I can say is find something that he would enjoy at fanime.

..Idk why I had so much fun at fanime I just did. Its the raw experience.. its.. it's walking with your pals and walking past a guy dressed as Sauske. It's just being in the presence of so many like minded people. It's just walking around, literally just walking around and just looking at things. It's that you know if someone made a good arse anime joke pretty much everyone would know it. At fanime, everything you do is fun... because its at fanime. Just sitting around Bored at fanime is AWESOME. You can sit in rooms with hosts of people and just watch hentai or a regular anime.

I don't even like anime and I love Fanime. Tell him that.

Even if he doesn't buy anything, browsing the Dealer's Room and Artist's Alley is still a lot of fun, I always look forward to karaoke and the dance, he would probably enjoy Musicfest, the gaming room is always fun, he probably isn't going to cosplay but that's always fun (even just handing him a camera and sending him out to find cosplays he likes would be enjoyable~), there has to be some sort of panel or video showing that he will end up liking, and during any other downtime, the hotels have pools. I like Fanime because there are always fun things to do, even fun, non-anime things, and I'm sure that there are a lot more things to do for someone who likes anime and keeps up with it.

If he likes anime and is just reluctant to go to a con, I'm sure that he would like it even more, because he would enjoy the series that they show, know what the panels are about, get the jokes in the Masquerade (while I sit there lost through the whole thing XD), know who people are cosplaying, etc.

LOLOLOL and it all becomes apparent. You want him to go, because YOU NEED him to go.

You wouldn't believe how many times I've used that.
It doesn't work anymore though.
