Hey any anime fans in the Pleasant Hill Area. I'm going to do a brave thing and go catch a matinee of the Dragon Ball evolution film this weekend. I'm a fan of the dragon ball franchice but I'm not a die hard fan of Dragon Ball series itself.  I'm not expecting it to be good because after all it's dragon ball, people don't exactly enjoy Dragon ball in any of it's forms due to high levels of intelligence. They like it because it's an amusing and the same time action packed story where good trumphs over evil and almost everybody lives happily ever after until the next saga when the next A-hole of the series arrives with the intention of aquiring the dragon balls, becoming immortal, destorying the earth, and then becoming the strongest most powerful being in the universe in some simblance of that order.

But like I was saying I do not have any high hopes for this film. I don't expect it to be accurate to the story and thanks to some reviews I know I won't be disappointed. I am however going to see it for a few laughs, and also because it's a film adaption of a classic well loved anime. There are still many anime to film adaptions coming out so I doubt this film will be the one that ruins things for everybody. You might want to worry more about the Full Metal Panic movie.

After the film I'm going to go to the local Borders (right across the street from the movie theater). Any one who decided to join in is welcome we could probably find a place to discuss the film or just discuss anime in general.

I'm Contra Costa as well (Oakley.) I really wasn't going to see this movie, but if I had people to go with, then I might be willing to put myself through this horror.

That's why i put up this group. If I don't end up going to the festival
I can still hold the Dragon Ball Evolution meet up as an alternitive. Or I can just save it for next weekend when more people are free to have a meet up.

Maybe holding off till the following weekend would be best then? I have my cousin's birthday party Saturday night and then a staff meeting Sunday. Also, Friday I have a poker night, lol.

as ive mentioned to previous peeps that have been trying to get last minute movie gatherings together...

first there is alot going on this weekend mostly CBF in SF.

and we mostly all admit that dragonball is type of movies you drag ur best friends too... not a movie you drag ppl u barely know in person from the internets :P  but thats just my 2 cents.

with the economy the way it is, most ppl dont like to spend $10/head to see a movie your gonna roll the dice on to see if your gonna enjoy the movie or not.

a good way to spend $10 on a friday night? meet up some friends a fast food place, boba drinks, snacks, and a good laptop and just watch your own anime, show off random you tube video and share ridiculous storys about times at fanime, cosplayers you met or make fun of other ppl's problems. :P

but have fun watching your movie... i think ill eventually see it. I just need to right friends to drag me into it.

but i honestly have to say this.

its NOT going to be over nine-thousand.

such a pity.  :-[

Yeah, which is why Jerry needs to postpone his stenciling party.  ;D
