cosplay- costume changes

Hi, I am pretty new to cosplaying, and have a question: My husband has written a hilarious skit that I am really hoping me, him, our sister, and her friend can perform, but I need to know if having a costume change offstage is ok. important to note is that I would be changing from street clothes (skirt and longsleeve shirt) into a costume so technically I would only be donning one "costume" on stage. is this ok?

(idea is that I am a normal highschool teacher then go offstage and then am somehow converted into the goddess belldandy through azumunga daioh's chiyo singing the cooking song...it's funnier than it sounds I promise)
