Final Fantasy XIV Online Announced for 2010
Tretton says PS3 will be the "only place" for new online-based Final Fantasy.

Not all of Sony's big surprises were spoiled. After showing off a new trailer for Final Fantasy XIII, Jack Tretton announced that Square Enix is hard at work on Final Fantasy XIV Online. He says it will be exclusive to the PlayStation 3, and coming in 2010. It may seem odd to have another game following so closely after FF13, but this one looks to be another MMO similar to Final Fantasy XI. Details on the game are sparse right now, but a new and exclusive Final Fantasy game is certainly a big feather in Sony's hat.

How many would play this game?

Not me. It's too hard to keep up in multiple MMOs at once, and Star Wars: Old Republic is the one I want to play.

Plus I'd have to buy a PS3. =P

I'd play this game. Although I haven't touched it in months, I have an active FFXI account (<3 WHM).

I hope they don't give in to the masses and easy mode it. I enjoy FFXI's difficult and demanding requirements for just about everything.

Yeh...the same day I reactivate my FFXI account....FFXIV gets announced. >:(

Ah well. It'll be something to do till it gets released.

I reactivated mine either late last year or early this year? (Time has no value in my mind.) I recently just stopped playing it again. Although, I'm still making payments. ???

I'm only down for a FFXIV Online if they improve all the tons of crap wrong with FFXI. I really hope they learned from their mistakes.

That is if I cared to play it.

At first I was like "ALRIGHT NEW FINAL FANTASY EVEN BEFORE THEY RELEASED 13"

I've just been wary of FF since XI. VII was the all-time high for me, VIII was OK, IX bombed (IMO), X was great, X-2 not so much, XI was... interesting, and I haven't even touched XII, so I'm really not sure what to think of XIII and XIV.

You are making a mistake to not touch XII. XII is a fantastic game. It's gonna be rough for the first couple hours as you learn the new system they used, but once you get a handle on it you will absolutely love the game. If you played any of the tactic games or older FF games, then you will notice some nifty easter eggs here and there. (Which reminds me...I need to play that one again.)

Oh, another thing. If you ever played Vagrant Story...you MUST play FFXII. It is a requirement.

I never played FFXI though I enjoy MMO's. So I will definitely be checking out XIV.

It's sucks that XIII got pushed back. The demo if f-ing awesome. Even though some of the features are locked, I like the battle system so far. I like the character designs and the art style as well.
