I don't know where else to ask so I thought I'd ask here.  Suppose someone wanted to reboot their system but didn't have the disc could one it ready to download and where?
It ain't the meaning of life but the feeling of it.

Depending on the version you're using, you should be able to as long as you have the registration codes.  Try this link for directions.

Sometimes I'm glad I became a teacher.  Other times I wish I had simply become a ninja.

If you bought the pc, some PCs have restoration partitions, you boot into it and it recovers your pc like if you just bought it. If you built it, you'll need a CD/CD key.

True, but in the case of Dell, and HP / Compaq you have to have "System restore" CD to access that partition  (all that's on these CD's is a short prompt to get to the System Restore image on the hard drive nothing else).  But if you have another way to get on the internet, you can generally download a n image of the CD that can be burned to a new CD.

Typically if it was a Dell, Gateway, etc.... and if you lost the restore disc, then you could contact them for a replacement, which possibly comes with a small charge. (At least that's the way I remember it.)

If you lost a Windows XP installation disc and the key codes as well.....then most likely you'll have to re-purchase the item unless you want to risk trying to illegally download a copy of the application and pray that it's a legit copy.

I guess a few things we need to kow is
1.  What brand PC do you have,
2. Does it have a COA (Code of Authenticity) label on it (The coulouful label from Microsoft that says what version of windows you have, and has a twenty five digit license code on it).
