Ok so has anyone been to the ARCADIA Restaurant at the Marriott? Is it really good food or just really expansive? When I travel I love to go out to nice restaurants, but my budget is not such that a can spend $80 on one person and not have it be REALLY good food. Also if there are any other really nice restaurants around that you think I should go to please tell me about them ;D
Some times you have to get away for it all and other times you must get back to it all.

If you want another high class restaurant to go to, people in Fanime would recommend Original Joes which is adjacent to the Marriot Hotel just off to the left side main entrance of the St Claire Hotel.  They have really great Italian Food.

This is the Map of all the recommended restaurants to eat around downtown San Jose.  I recommend Amici's East Coast Pizzaria.  Some also recommend Tandoori Oven for Indian food.

I will just leave it up to the other posters to contribute to the thread since I haven't eaten at very many restaurants in downtown San Jose since I am originally from San Francisco.

A real copy of the Map is provided at the convention center and also at all the Fanime Info Desk Booths.

Don't eat in the hotel restaurants unless you have the money to burn.

I remember eating at that restaurant in the Marriott back in 2004.  I recall eating a lobster corn-dog for an appetizer, and a kobe-beef country-fried steak.  quite yummy.   ;D  Not sure if their menu has changed since then..

I went there after the Masquerade in 2007, and I had a wonderful time. I didn't try their Italian Food, but I had their French Dip which was very good. Highly recommend it if you want to take a break from Fanime to sit down for an hour to eat.

I went to Arcadia last year. I would say the food was yummy and the service was nice. I plan on going again this year. I've also done their breakfast buffet and it was pretty good. Personally, Fanime is my vacation so I expect to at least spend some money eating out for the atmosphere and food.

This is mostly true, but Arcadia can be cheap too. I believe that a bunch of my friends ate there for under 20 each (maybe 18ish?).

How much was their breakfast buffet? I went to the Hilton and paid $15 for one on Monday morning last year

Arcadia, in my experience, was a bit too much $$ and not enough good food. I got a steak and some mashed potatoes and from what i recall the steak wasn't the best I'd had.

I would reinforce the Original Joes recommendation. Very nice imo.

Their breakfast buffet was $15 last year, I just found out it went up to $18 this year...so I might be reconsidering the breakfast buffet. But besides the food that they set out for the buffet, you can also ask the cooks to make omelettes, pancakes, and waffles too.

Last year I shared the whole fried chicken with another friend for dinner. It was pretty good, the mac & cheese was really good though.

It's really up to personal choice. I plan to go to Arcadia again, but it's not set in stone. I always go and check out the menu in the restaurant first to see if it appeals to me and it's also good to see if the staff is nice too.

I went to the Arcadia Restaurant on Monday for their buffet. While it was sort of expensive (it was $42 including tax and tip for me and my roommate), I was very pleased with the service and the quality of the food. I will probably come back again next year.

*revives thread* Arcadia is great!  I got a decent amount of food for like, ten bucks.  fish n chips... but it was three times better than your average fish n chips.  and they gave me a miniature glass bottle of catsup!  so cute!  the waiters were soooo nice, service was good, and the bread they give you is delicious, especially with the spread it comes with.

I haven't been to the Arcadia, but I've had some of the room service food that comes from there and it's pretty tasty.  As far as Original Joe's goes, if last year is any indication, try to call ahead... or don't go when you're starving.  The place is really pricey and the lines were insane. We were waiting for about 45 minutes to get a table.

Last time I went was on the Monday, after Fanime was technically over, and even then it was really packed. There were just two of us, thankfully, so they found us a table pretty quick, but I can imagine how difficult it would be to show up with a large group.

I took a quick look at the menu Arcadia has online, and the only thing I can suggest presently is that if you want budget, go at lunch, not at dinner. Dinner is significantly more expensive at almost any hotel restaraunt, and they're not changing too much in what they serve

I didn't realize they had breakfast! That's a very tempting idea if the Hilton doesn't have its own nifty eats (that's where we're staying).
