is there any way the major gatherings on saturday can get spread out a bit more?? D: i don't know if it was completely logical (though it was probably completely random) to schedule the biggest gatherings (bleach, gurren lagann, and Final Fantasy) on the same day, all within half an hour of each other. i know i'll prolly get a lot of /whine flames... but hell, i go to cons to cosplay and show off.

i guess the point of this is, what's the possibility that any of these gatherings will get spread out a bit more, or am i the only one who has this problem??

Well there are several factors as to why Saturday is so full but I can tell you some of the things that happen to help spread them but it doesn't always make it so.

First thing is Bleach and Naruto swap each year so Last year Naruto had Saturday and Bleach had Sunday. This year Bleach has Saturday and Naruto Sunday.

Secondly I haven't run the FF All gathering since 2006. It was successful then, but I was doing many other things so it went on hiatus for a couple of years.

Third is Cosplay Masquerade. It used to be on Sunday and that day was the heavy day with Saturday a close second. Since it has moved to Saturday that made it slightly fuller and Sunday the close second.

Fourth is that all the large 60+ cospeep gatherings from the prior year get first choice of time slots before anyone else. This way all the other gatherings can maneuver around them so that more peeps can come to their gatherings.

Last thing is that there are now (on average) over 60 + gatherings over the course of the weekend so no matter what time you choose there is likely something or some other gathering that will conflict with what you want so it will be a pick and choose when it comes to attending gatherings over the course of the weekend.

Listed gatherings count currently (as of this post) is 9 Fri, 18 Sat, 20 Sun, and 3 Mon for a total of 50 "Listed" Gatherings. As for "Not Listed" there are 22 possible gatherings waiting in the wings... (gatherings that have the required info on their first post and are somewhat active.) So if all of those submitted there would be 72 gatherings this year.

Now add to that the fact that there are 7 listed cosplayer events listed. This means someone could spend most of their daylight hours (10 am - 6 pm on average) doing nothing but cosplayer gatherings and cosplayer events over the course of the entire weekend and still stay super busy. :P I know a dozen or so cosplayers that do and perform in Cosplay Masquerade on top of it all!

So when it comes down to it you will just have to pick and choose like the rest of us what you really want to do.

BTW... gurren lagann has 17 possible attending listed. FF ALL has 102, Bleach has 58, and then there is Hetalia with 82 possible attending. Some titles have gained in popularity. A couple really big gatherings last year are not as big this year so it is a give and take each year on some gatherings.

So with all that said enter into the situation that Fanime RECOGNIZES the cosplayer gatherings and cosplayer events and has a DEPARTMENT allocated specifically for it.. (2010 first official year of this being an official department! YEAH!) Also add that I have included a Day Zero option, and I'm running the department 10 am to 7:30 pm on Friday, I've added a new location to the gathering locations & organize all the individual musical instruments into a wonderful Fanime cosplayer gathering/event symphony.

We can only do so much the rest is up to each person.

Hope this information helps your apparent frustration, though I don't think it really resolves it in a way that is more accommodating for you. Sorry

Sincerely

Okay, that makes sense. I definitely understand how it would be a massive logistics issue just to schedule them all, and I know there really isn't anything that can be done about it. I'm glad there's a department this year to control this aspect of the convention, and i just hope that maybe next year there will be a bit more changing room. I know some people can change in a half an hour, and I'll probably end up doing that, i just wanted to make sure the issue got somewhat addressed. Thank you again :]
