I've read the rules that things should be pg-13 for the karaoke songs. I'm a huge jmetal and jrock fan, but trying to translate maximum the hormone to english is a little tricky to determine weather its pg-13 or not. It would be great help to know if maximum the hormone would be appropriate or not to sing for just a karaoke night and what song would be considered appropriate or not.

I've done the original version of Birthday Cake by Cibo Matto, which has the F word, in English, prominently in the middle of the song (not to mention the drug references). The karaoke staff convinced me to do that version (the version they have in the official karaoke database) instead of the version I had brought with me, which was the edited version (edited for a game rated T partly for song lyrics).

I'm sure you'll be fine, but you might want official karaoke staff input before proceeding. ;P

Yeah it usually has to be an original and real song. If you translate yourself like from Japanese to English, its not original and official song.

They are trying to determine if the song's lyrics are appropriate, not trying to sing a translated song.

I'm really having a hard time in selecting songs to sing for fanime.

Like some songs i really want to do like

Ayaka- Okaeri < the song just starts away and im afraid to miss a beat
there's no leeway for me to count 1,2,3 then sing. its just beat then you start singing
(i hope that makes sense XD)

or should i do lover soul by shibashi kou?

any recommendations for songs, like a slow pop song.
and maybe a 5 min song, i like have 4:57 min songs.

Yeah, totally get the not knowing which songs to sing for open mic, especially since the line gets so long and you'll only sing a few times throughout the whole con.
Milkychu, I think as long as you get the rest of it, people will probably forgive if you miss a beat in the beginning.  I myself am thinking about singing Triangular from Macross Frontier, and that song too starts straight away without warning.  (In my case, whether or not I do sing it is if I can get the rest of the rhythms in the verse.)  If you really want to sing it, I suggest don't hold back.

BTW, this makes me want to start a topic of what songs people will sing during open mic.  GAH, I'm such a karaoke junkie!!  >.<
"I like to quote myself."

I'm having a hard time choosing, too. ;o; Last year, I pretty much only did really poppy, fun songs with dances, but that's not really -me-, you know? I really liked doing those songs, and I might do one of them again, but I'm thinking about maybe doing something by JiLL-Decoy association or orange pekoe or something. (Too bad I can't find lyrics for Jiru's third album!)
