QuoteThe dance management team has taken all your feedback (positive and negative) into consideration.

For every person that hates a certain genre there will be one who wishes they heard it.  As a DJ, the skill is in keeping the continuity with the crowd's acceptance of what is played.  If in a situation you hear Justin Bebier it would most likely have been a request by a group of people who would equally dissent on another's choice.

We can't make everyone happy, but we can try to cater to as many as possible.

DJs that have been selected are given the freedom to perform a set of their choice, but the feedback presented
in this thread will be conveyed to all of them.

There will be a published schedule this year highlighting the genre's you are most likely to hear during each set.

Most of the DJs have a fixed format, especially the headliners from Japan, so don't be offended if they won't take your request.

As for the high school dance remarks.  Not everyone who attends Fanime is in high school and many people into Hip Hop/Top 40s may equally feel socially awkward in a non-fanime setting and would appreciate some music from that genre.

Our goal this year is not to present a trance-a-thon, but present a better managed event with diversity.  We are hopeful, and so should everyone else.  If you have a request, you can post it on the positive forum to be considered.  Don't forget, the true destination for multi-genre requests is the Black and White Ball, where continuity and beatmatching is less of a priority.
Well put. I know it makes sense to cater to the majority but there are those that want to hear music they can't hear everywhere else. As long as you keep it diverse most (rational) people won't get too upset.

Is there an ETA for the published schedule/genres we can expect? The dance was one of my favorite events last year, and a breakdown of the genres I can expect would be a great addition.

Also, I believe I read in another of your posts that there were guest of honor DJs. Have those been announced?

To add onto eHash's comments about Black & White Ball:

You do, however, have to dress up and dance with a partner :).  Don't worry, we actually have lessons for the latter part.  I think we're actually scheduled for Stage Zero demos too, so come by and take a gander!  We'll try not to bore people :P.

Last year we had a mix of anime songs/top 40/asian pop songs, and it'll probably hold for this year too.  We may not beatmatch or continue, but the song does have to fit some combination of bpm/rhythm sensibility in order to do partner dances to.
