I liked the manga interpretation... but the anime is really failing.

Sure, the story is intact. However, there's far too much fanservice (The OP alone), and most of the funny bits got caught for the "cuteness" of Karin. The OP theme is nice, but everything else is very mediocre, including the art; eyes are nice looking, but everything else is blandly colored, like Negima's early stages.

Normally I can take Karin getting embarassed, and that's cute. Having happen every 3 minutes with her groan isn't.

Karin's design looked better to me in the manga as well (Which is licensed now). The blood-transfusion and accidents would be so much better if they didn't try to make it pretty by forming flowers with them. I liked that seriousness.

Is there a reason why the sponsor splash is said in English? I'm used to the "Goran no sponor no teikyode, o kurishimase" (BAD phoneticization)

Thoughts?

I've actually dropped this serious in its entirety. For some reason, I couldn't get past the girl's nose bleeding and her constant embarassment over one guy. Also, you're right. Over on the animesuki forums, people pretty much agree that Karin in the manga vs Karin in the anime have gone down the usual path. Manga beats anime that is (artwise). Such a dark and lonely path...but! There can only be one and one is the lonliest number that can ever be... (I swear I had to do that).

hey, ive never heard of this before. but when you put the words "fan" and "service" next to eachother, im game!

jp...so what is this about?

Well from my perspective, I have never read the manga so I wouldn't know what to compare it with exactly. As an anime by itself, I think it's watchable. It feels to me more of a cutesy anime with a little romance comedy tossed in; though I must agree I have absolutely no clue what is up with the fanservice in the opening. Disregarding the opening, I do not see any other forms of fanservice yet. The first episode itself, during the changing scene, Karin's collision, we the viewers see nothing. The blood splatter with flower petals are questionable. The artwork itself looks alright, but at times especially our star-crossed lovers looks downright awkward.
Other than that, I see that the story does have potential.

Ive only seen the first episode and it didnt appear to have any fanservice really or at least alot but my memory is foggy but Im sure Id remember a pleothra of panty shots etc.  I thought it was funny and relatively cute but nothing spectacular to keep me interested.

I'm a girl and the main reason why I'm watching it is because my favorite seiyuu does the voice of Ren, Karin's brother. X.D I don't know anything about the manga, but I think the story of this series is kinda cute, with Karin being a blood-making vampire and all. I don't like it when there's too much fanservice (like DearS; again I watched because my fave seiyuu did Nonaka's voice), but so far I haven't seen too much in this series. Then again I'm dling from AE so I'm stuck on ep 3. .^^;

Too much Fanservice? And this is Karin we're talking about?

Outside of the opener and the next episode teaser, this program is one of the most innocent and fanservice free programs of the "School/Teenager comedy/drama" genre. I've really enjoyed the program so far (up to episode 6) and Kenta's mom was just awesome after she got bit, some cases stealing the show.

Having never read the comics (I can't understand Tokyopop changing the name to "Chibi Vampire"), I think the blood flying out like flowers, or her running to a bush with a blood guyser going off, is an artistic choice that may have been made to circumvent Japanese censors and so far, like what I'm seeing.

I've seen much much much worse here in the realm of Fan Service, and anyone who knows me can attest that a show with too much Fan Service = insulting my intelligence.

Once you read the manga, you'll realize why I am detesting its current story flow.

A lot of it is rushed through, and unlike Tsukiyomi ~Moon Phase~, it tries for a seriously dark and goofy mix and ultimately fails.
