Just a suggestion...

I'm not totally sure how you're going about arranging the group chats, but I'm assuming that when you choose to hold one, you just send out a huge chat invite or something...  A much easier method would be to come up with a permanent name for the chat room, and let people invite themselves into it.

"WTF BLOOZ," you say.  Allow me to explain, if you're not currently aware.

Inviting yourself to a chat room on AIM is easy.  If the room already exists, all you have to do is click on the "send chat invitation" option, type in the name of the room, and instead of putting someone else's name to invite to your chat, you put your own name in.

With this method, there could always be a Fanime AIM chat open, so long as one person was still in the room (and if there's one thing that IRC has taught us, it's that people fricking LOVE to idle in chat rooms for days on end).

We used to do that (the chat name was fanilove05) but that devolved into a random phrase a chat with the term 'fani' or 'fanime' in it somehow. And yeah, I second the IRC idling. XD

I like seperating chats, actually, because when Trillian logs them, they're not in one huge 1298874910248573984239TB file. :3
