Just don't.  Either make it like a good scanalation, explaining the puns and stuff, or just translate it plain and simple.  But they undoubtedly realized that the majority of random readers wouldn't 'get it' if they did that, so they butchered it.

How about punching out a company for screwing around with two of your favorite shows?

I'd like to smack ADV. The only thing they've attempted to do right is get episodes of Matantei Loki Ragnarok out on time. They've completely ignored the manga they DID license, bring out two novels and then utterly forget about. No mention whatsoever about the rest, not even to say they dropped it so someone else can get it or fan-translate it. Release "dates" came and went.

They've also done this to Tactics, which is by the same mangaka. With that at least they've dropped the anime license, so hopefully the fansubs came back for other people to check out.
