I've played GG^C, but not GG^C+. I'm guessing it's also for PS2 and not an arcade cabinet?

If anyone knows any differences between the US version of GG^C and GG^C+, I'd really appreciate hearing it. Thanks!

There aren't any. GG^C for the US is basically the JP version of GG^C+. It had bug fixes and a few property resets.

I'd like to join all the Capcom fighters, but which day during the weekend are you gonna have the tournament?

Let me know.

oh, CvS2 general tourney rule:

Ratio match only
Roll cancels allowed
No game freezing glitches
No god/evil characters (they're not in arcade anyways)

I totally forgot about the soul cal tourney

Well... I remembered it but I was hanging out with friends so I couldn't ditch them.

Eitherway, fun tourneys, too bad so many people didn't show up.

Chinoy looked stressed almost all the time.

He was.  I promise him he won't have to deal with it next year.  Yeah a lot of people didn't show up, it was kind of a shame.  We had a little miscommunication with the sponsor, but now that we know what's going on and what needs to be done, things will be streamlined.

You guys seemed like you were handling it pretty well though.

There were so many different games and systems, it was pretty impressive.

AmazingKenchan

Well, I really want people to know what's going on before there's a problem.  The night before the Melty Blood tournament, I didn't even know if we had a copy of Melty Blood, for what system, and what version.  Same went for Tekken V, I didn't know JT brought it on his PS3 until the tournament started.  Things like this are not going to work next year.  I'm bringing experienced tournament staffers, setting up a table with paper tournament signups and running PCs with tournament standings posted.  I'll also be working on getting the PV system worked up for someone to use for tournaments and have enough consoles available.  I think also if we're holding more serious tournaments, there should be judges for every two stations, and the section used for tournament gaming should be clearly marked and each station numbered.  I've been to and helped organize a few very well-run tournaments, and these seem to be the keys that we did not have this year.

There were several major problems with the Melty Blood tournament:

1. It was at 8 am.
2. It was listed as Ver. B on the website when we didn't have PC gaming set up (and people probably wouldn't have accepted the PS2 version that I desparately tried to get)
3. Even if we borrowed a PC, we didn't have adapters for people to use controllers
4. It was at 8 am.

We should probably set up the tournmants to start later in the day. Games that are M-rated can go in a later time slot, like 10 PM since we did allow people to play Halo 3 after 9 PM.

BTW, at the 3s tournament, when my girlfriend ran my stick down to me, I had a PS2 -> USB converter. I put the converter behind the TV we were using.

The grey one... after the tournament when I went to get it, it wasn't there. Not sure if someone stole it, or if someone from staff took it thinking it was the "cons". But if someone has it, I'd like it back if possible please.

AmazingKenchan

I don't remember seeing one.  If it's mixed in, it WILL turn up, because I'm starting a round of e-mails to our eGaming staff to double-check for missing equipment.  I'm personally missing two GC controllers, as is one of the other staffers, a copy of Gradius II, someone's missing GGXX:AC, and a few other things.  I also have a Dreamcast that got left behind to the very end.  Stuff got stolen from us as well; if your adapter turns up, I will let you know.  Next year we will have waivers for people bringing in their own stuff, as well as for staff.  I'd recommend if you bring your own consoles, controllers or accessories you label them.

Yeah, stuff always gets stolen. It's not that big of a deal really, but just thought I'd mention it just in case it does pop up or something. Just a pain in the ass to order a new one, especially since I can't play GGPO for a while.

You were the one then that commented the night before nobody will show up because it's at 8:00AM?  Yeah, that kinda sucks :/

I wasn't the one saying it (I learned and heard it was on Saturday in the afternoon, later finding out it was Sunday at 8), but most people agreed regardless because the E-gaming scene goes so late into the night.

You can get a two ps2 controller port USB adapter over at Frys for ~$20.

I got one for MUGEN, Mame, IIDX, and emulators and it works great!

Spiritsnare

If you're specifically looking for another Elecom adapter, Mikey, they sell a couple at User's Side, also (I think?) $18.

From what I hear, it works flawlessly.

Yeah I know, I'm probably going to order another one in the next few days. Just didn't want to unless I had to.

Well I'd personally like to thank JT for running the tourneys as well as he did. Even though he wasn't directly involved with AC ( I can't remember the name of the girl who was x.x ) it was probably the best run tourney I was in. Only one minor issue right towards the end that got resolved quickly. Everyone treated my stuff with respect which was also cool, cause I've had jerks throw my stuff around in frustration before. Very positive experience.

JTchinoy

Thanks everyone for entering.
I was indeed stressed, but I was more just throwing sarcasm around than actually pissed off.
With the tournament maker program, next year will be run a lot smoother.  Hopefully I'll have all of the equipment I ask for so that these tournaments can be done better.  I'd like to thank everyone for understanding some of the equipment/ station shorts that I had and to those to all of the entrants that understand how it is running between 2 tournaments.

I'll try to train more staffers, like david, next year so that we'll have everyone aware of what to do.  The roadbumps with japanvideogames were unfortunate but I learned from all of this and hopefully they will help us out next year if they return.  And yes melty blood was too damn early in the morning.  8am tournament? god damn.  i doubt i'd get up for tekken at 8am, let alone melty blood.

The short on arcade sticks was a bit irritating, so we'll be working on that.

And for those who were wondering, crystal was running AC for me.

Chinoy: I forgot what day it was but didn't you have a 15 win streak on T5:DR AC one night?

Also, Sorry I didn't show up for the SC3 tourney.

JTchinoy

i did that like twice? the first time finished at 33, the 2nd time ended around 12.
you prolly saw me saturday night when i did it after finishing the tournies.

no problem on 3s. i had a lot of other flakes, so it wasn't anything unusual by that point. :)
