Speaking of which, how long does it take for the Hilton to fill up? My mom's going to be gone all weekend, and I'm paranoid it'll fill up before Monday, especially since people have advance notice.

Marriott and Hilton fill up fastest, usually within 2 or 3 weeks. Fairmont is one of the last because of the proximity, but it is a really classy place. I'd say you've got a month before people start filling up the Fairmont.

Just look out for single days filling up. Say you need a room Thursday - Monday, if you wait too long they might be booked full for just Friday or Saturday.

Fairmont doesn't usually fill up until the last month or so, for that very reason- Marriott and Hilton (Hilton especially) do fill up first- and fast. Though the whole "connected to con" thing is really overrated with Fanime; the Fairmont is down the street, like a minute's walk away, and is one of the most beautiful hotels i've ever stayed in. Plus you don't have to deal with waiting 5+ minutes for the stupid elevator.

I tend to choose Hilton because I have a rewards card with them. Though I guess I could get a Marriott card or something else if I really wanted to. It's habit.

And Hilton has something very precious to me...something I treasure like my favorite teddy bear. That thing....it's called a mini-fridge  ;D

Nope! Wasnt on the edge of my seat fast enough to get Hilton.  Have to go on the wait list or see if more rooms get posted up.  Cause the Marriot is too much of a nightmare getting in and out of that damn hotel :P

How do we get on the wait list for rooms? I put two reservations down for the Crowne Plaza but I really want to the Hilton since I've stayed there every year since forever ;_;

I didn't expect the hotels ti fill up this fast either.. but then again, we don't normally get pinpoint advance notice like this (its usually "next week" not "tomorrow at seven") and our numbers keep going up. With thousands of attendees, its not a huge surprise. As for the waitlist, my guess is you should call the hotel registration service directly. (What is it? Cmc? Cpm? Meh.)

Scratch that! Awesome older brother let me use his credit card so I could book a room! Whoooooo! Now gotta wait for my new debit card comes in the mail to change it (old one HAD to expire this month and mess up my registration plans ><)

Is your brother going with to Fanime? Because you'll have to present the card you reserved with to check into the room. It sounds like you plan to call/email housing to change the card under your reservation, but I wanted you to know these things before you ran into problems checking in.

I just wanted to point out that the numbering on the Hotel Map is off!  Anyone who is new to Fanime may get thrown off and book a hotel that they think is nearby but is really blocks away.

Oh yeah of course, I had to go through that problem last year when my friend who reserved our room decided she wanted to stay with a different group last minute. Only because she decided that since the room was on her card she should get the whole king sized bed to herself and refused to share with even one other girl(the 3 of us would've fit comfortably, we're pretty small)

But thanks for pointing that out and reminding me, that's good info to have.

On another rooming note, ALWAYS make sure the people you want to room with are for sure going to stay with you. It sucks getting stuck with a huge bill unexpectedly, trust me.

I'd say the Double Tree will be last to fill up this year. It's alot farther away then any of the other hotels

We took the Hilton last year because a) it had the mini-fridge, which is essential if you want to keep things like drinks cold and b) it was in very close proximity to the rooms dedicated to Masquerade signup and craftsmanship judging. The latter was extremely helpful because we were cutting a little bit close to our appointment time.

The elevator issue is annoying, but we requested a low floor, and ended up on the 7th if I recall correctly. It's not HUGELY low, but it was low enough that we could easily take the stairs down and save elevator stuff for going up. And it's exercise :)

T_T the day the reservations opened was the day i had finals so i didnt take notice of rooms opening till a week later i hope i can get a marriot 28-31 day deal before april
